Re: What the most controversial show ever???
There were some controversial moments on The Shield.
I think that Moment of Truth was such a hard show to watch...but yeah, those people were fucking idiots to be on there in the first place.

Heil Honey I'm Home
The show centres on fictionalised versions of Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun, who live next door to a Jewish couple, Arny and Rosa Goldenstein. The show's plot is centred on Hitler's inability to get along with his neighbours. A caption at the beginning of the episode presented the series as a 'lost' sitcom from the 50s, recently re-discovered. The show spoofed elements of 1950s and 1960s American sitcoms such as Leave It to Beaver and I Love Lucy, including the corny title, light (even vacuous) plots and dialogue, and unwarranted applause whenever a character appeared on screen.
The plot of episode 1 involved Adolf telling Eva of the impending arrival of Neville Chamberlain, and begging her not to tell the Goldensteins. Of course, Eva lets it slip to Rosa that Chamberlain ("the most important man in Europe!") is coming round and Rosa tells Arny. They then crash the dinner party the Hitlers have prepared for Chamberlain.
Only 1 episode aired.

Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High for me. It was a Canadian show in the late 80's, early 90's. It was a solid cast of teen no-name actors. They covered topics anywhere from teen pregnancy, aids, rape, sexual abuse, parental abuse, drugs and booze, drinking and driving, teen suicide., etc
Wonder if it is out on DVD?

This is an easy one. UK TV show from Chris Morris called "Brass Eye." It duped celebs and politicians (always good for a laugh) and the episode that was all about poking fun at Pedophilia was headline news at the time.

In the UK, possibly one of the most controversial shows was "The Word". If anyone knows the show here, they'll know how it had some of the most sick things broadcast (they won't try that again), it had complaints every week. And it had Nirvana and Jackie Chan as some of the guests.

Thank you for keeping rock history intact!
Those days are all kinda of a blur for me I reckon.
also:
Sullivan made his own share of bloopers on the air. One night, he gave this pitch for the fight against tuberculosis: "Good night and help stamp out TV". He once forgot the name of the group The Supremes, and introduced them as "the girls." And after a 1965 Christmas show performance by singer Sergio Franchi, Sullivan told his audience "Let's hear it for the Lord's Prayer!" When British comedy duo Morecambe and Wise appeared on the show he introduced them as Morrie, Combie and Wise and a famous blunder also helped get comic Joan Rivers on the show. Sullivan was told to plug the guest for the following week's show, singer Johnny Rivers. Instead, Sullivan said "Next week, Joan Rivers." (She showed up.)

Re: What the most controversial show ever???
-All in the Family is the most controversal in 1971, as they had to put a disclaimer before the show in the first 6 episodes!
-I thought Ellen coming out of the closet on TV in 1997 was much talked about at the time.
-NYPD and the partial nudity in the early 90's
-Married with Children was pretty controversal when it appeared in 1986.

The Joe Schmo Show had its bit of controversy over basically lying to the "Joe" about what he was on the show for. Side note; the winner of the show blew all his money and had severe psychological issues stemming from feeling humiliated on TV for quite a long time after the show. It is only within the last few years he has started to pull stuff back together.

There was a comedy skit show in the late 60s that caused such an uproar it got cancelled after one episode. Don't know the name. Was similiar to the movies THE GROOVE TUBE, TUNNELVISION and KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE.

Actually, Jagger rolled his eyes every time he sang "Let's spend some time together."

Re: What the most controversial show ever???
Eli Stone's first episode had a trial about vaccines causing autism in kids (big pharma is bad kids!). Tons of medical institutions jumped all over ABC for airing something so stupid. ABC eventually relented and tossed up a federal website address where viewers could read about how vaccines have no risk at the end; but to most watchers just assumed that the website was instead confirming that the plot of the show was true.
