I spaced this entirely. For some reason I’m not feeling the hype for season two like I was with season one.

Why the fuck is this ASL on by default? I can’t figure out how to turn it off on Apple TV either.

Liked the first episode. The actress that plays Dina looks like a young Mila Kunis

More of the same - which will thrill those who loved the first season. I was more meh on it and still am.. just not really interested in the lead characters (the actors are fine but aren't really elevating the material in any way) I'm still expecting some great sequences and with only six more to go I'll continue watching.

Glad it's back. If you haven't played the game, you are in for a heck of a season, with this season only being half of the game. Really liked the therapist scene and the stalker scene was well done.

I was a little put off by the change in how things are being portrayed. Particularly,
as these things were revealed a bit later in the game, but overall it seems like the right choice for the show.
However, those unfamiliar with the game should NOT watch the post-show EPK-style interviews after the credits. The actress playing Abby mentions her character’s motivation, but the specifics of this were not immediately clear in the episode.
Game/plot spoiler:
Not a massive spoiler… but I’m surprised they left that in the interview.
This was an excellent episode, regardless, and the casting of the new characters is great. My wife noted that Ellie makes too many bad decisions, then paused and said oh right, that’s kind of the point.
(She’s played both games, so she knows what’s up)

The sound on this is awesome. During the Ellie and Dina scene in the market the surround sound was driving my dogs insane.

That overhead view of the town in Jackson was just beautiful. I don't know if it was re-created or real but it was spectacular in 4k.

The whole episode I was thinking it looked really good, like clear picture and well lit; no changes on my end with my TV settings (an old-ish TCL series 4 that I have to fiddle with from time to time depending on show/service to get a better picture)

They stuck really close to the opening scenes in the game

I don't even have the 4k for Max and the PQ was still noticeably outstanding.

Even better than the final season of Game of Thrones?

Refresh my memory since it's been 2 years since season 1.
Why do Joel and Ellie seem very distant from each other? She's very cold to him in this episode. I remember in season 1, episode 9. Joel went on a killing rampage to save Ellie from being operated on.
And the bodies who those young people were mourning. The new character introduced Abbie was mourning her father. Was her father killed by Joel?
That's the trouble with these really long gaps between seasons on scripted shows these days.

He lied to her about what happened and when she asked him if he was telling the truth he said he was, but she didn't really believe him.
The people at the start of the episode were mourning their friends in the Firefly compound killed by Joel.
