I gotta give this show another chance. I loved it when it was airing but that ending. oof. Just ruined it for me. But looking at this list of actors and characters this show was so heavy with such an incredible cast. Terry O'Quinn gets my vote.

I re-watched it last year, because my wife didn't know it, but she is a sucker for twists and mindfucks, so I thought she would like it. Knowing the end makes it a bit easier not to fully engage, but the experience is very much the same. The first two seasons are just great and seeing my wife falling in love with the show was nice, but the show gets worse, without ever getting bad. I liked it back then and I liked in now, but the ending is just disappointing.
I never expected to get answers for everything, but at least I wanted to know what the island is, other than being a cork to keep the evil from getting out.

I'm actually split on Matthew Fox, there are some scenes where I like his performance, but sometimes he tends to overacting. It sometimes comes of as if he's completely insane, but I am actually not sure if this is part of his character. It seems he lacks the subtle nuances of actors like Terry O'Quinn for example.

I wouldn't mind a rewatch, but at this point, I want to wait for a 4k set. Knowing my luck I'd wrap up season 6 only for them to announce a 4k set days after.

How did your wife like Lost? Did you warn her about the ending or just let her make up her own mind.

The biggest problem for me was Jin and Sun just giving up and not going back to take care of their kid. I think everyone else could have reasonably stayed and they did a decent job of explaining that (from what I remember) But their motivation was a bit weak. That and the whole unexplained mystical stuff that ended up being a whole nothing burger.

But great acting. Great character writing. But the overall plot was disappointing. I think they just set themselves up for failure. Just no answers at all. It could have been one of the best shows ever if they had stuck that landing.

She never wanted to watch it, because she already knew the ending is disappointing. She really loved season 1 and 2 and binged through those real fast. At the end she had the same experience as most of us. She liked the show and the characters, but she felt disappointed, although she knew she would.
At least she didn't regret watching it.

Did you show her the epilogue? Ended up answering a few lingering things.

BTW, it's the 20th Anniversary (a 4k set would have been nice).

However, a 20th Anniversary documentary is pretty cool:

Yes, but she was angry about something I did and wasn't really paying attention

Wow that's crazy to me. Lost is as far in the past as the Golden Girls was when Lost premiered.
