‘Survivor’ 47: Meet the 18 Castaways Competing in Twist-Packed New Season

It’s officially “Survivor” season, once again. CBS announced the new Season 47 cast on Wednesday — including one competitor many will recognize.
The new season, which kicks off with a two-hour premiere on September 18 before moving back to 90-minute weekly episodes, features “Pod Save America” co-host and former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett, “who finds himself thrust into a world filled with a different kind of cutthroat politics,” per the press release.
Jeff Probst returns as host and showrunner for the season, which also features an ER doctor, an AI research assistant, a flight school owner and a sports reporter. As always, only one will make it to the end, taking home the $1 million prize.
This season, once again taking place in Fiji, will delve into the group as they navigate “unexpected obstacles” and “face a twist-packed season from the moment they step on the beach.” Season 47 will include extreme situations, mental and physical challenges and moral dilemmas for the 18 castaways to endure.

Edit for above -
Additional Contestant :
"I don’t know if this is a hot take — I guess it is in one sense — but I hate final four fire-making. Don’t get me wrong: I love drama and the suspense, but I think it’s given too much much weight by juries, often just because of the recency bias, and it means people we may love to see in the end get clipped at five or four after losing fire. Devastating!"

I still can't believe Jon Lovett, who I've been listening to on podcasts for almost a decade now, is a contestant on this. Such a weird turn. And in an election year too.
Additional Contestant :
Genevieve Mushaluk

RHAP?
Also I have no idea why the Hawaiian flight attendant is listed last and not in alphabetical order like all the other contestants.

I was going to post this thread after work, but Decker beat me to it. I was busy all day at work and didn't get a chance to post the season thread. Look for a Survivor game thread soon.

Hey, I was just too excited when I saw Jon Lovett's tweet.
Why was Ayesha on Rob's podcast?

Yeah, Ayesha is a regular contributor to RHAP. She pops on their Big Brother shows a lot and is usually on their Love is Blind shows. She's probably appeared talking about other shows, including Survivor I assume.

Since when did contestants get their own canteen and Santa-sized bag to carry around stuff in? Is this new or is this just the first season everything is color-coded? I know they've always had their own packs for items, but they've always seemed much smaller...and I don't remember contestants having their own canteens before now.

Andy's giving up Bhanu vibes. And like last season, I think his tribe is going to regret not voting him off sooner. I fear the ongoing story will be his tribe mates micromanaging his fragile emotional state. Getting upset because his coconut chopping isn't appreciated enough? This is a 30-something year old grown man for god's sake.
I did like the Matroska doll arrangement of locked boxes that players had to go through to get the Beware Advantage. Feels like the producers trolling the players

They have had canteens for a few seasons, and the "well" seems to contain potable water now, probably refilled by production crew. They no longer bother to boil water. I think they have had too many medicalissues.

Packs do seem larger, maybe they are allowed to bring more things?

I wish someone would tell Sam that being a reporter for sports is not the same thing as being a competitor for sports.

I realize I am now a week behind, but just watched episode 5. Anika's temper tantrum upon being blindsided was one of the worst things I've ever seen on the show. What a poor sport. Have some respect for the game!

I'm impressed with the cast this season. So many times, we've see players let the "problem" contestants hang around for no good reason - this year, they're identifying the issues and getting those people off the show.

Yeah, Anika’s reaction was rare these days, when it’s usually like “You got me, love you all.” Animosity seemed to happen more in the old days.
