Re: Richard Lewis dead at 76
I mainly remember him from the sitcom Anything But Love with Jamie Lee Curtis and his turn as Prince John in the movie Robin Hood: Men In Tights.

RIP

Damn, I feel like this was someone I knew well from his frequent appearances on the Steve Dahl and Garry Meier radio show in Chicago back in the day. I think he still kept in touch with them and has appeared on Meier's podcast regularly in recent years.

Awww. That's very sad news.
Weird timing, too, with he and Larry arguing about wills and outliving each other, on Curb, last week.

RIP. Big loss. Been a huge fan back to the point where it was a little weird to be. Like what type of 7 year old enjoys Anything But Love?

He had to wait until the bit about changing his will aired. Committing to the joke until the end!

It’s too bad. I figured with all he was going through it was just a matter of time. I realized this watching Curb. The episode he was in when they played golf, he never got out of the golf cart. Just sat there as if he were playing. It was sad.

My local LA news station just did a breaking news cut in and said Lewis died of a heart attack.
I can’t say I was a huge fan, but I always knew him as playing an eccentric and neurotic character. It seemed to work for him.
RIP.

RIP to the Prince of Pain. I've been a fan since his appearances on Letterman in the '80s.

Self-deprecating humor at its finest. His passing is sad, but his legendary performances (at least in my opinion), will forever be available in some format for us fans to watch again and again. Heaven just might be laughing again. Or maybe crying. I'm not sure which.

A million years ago, he starred in a TV movie called "Diary of a Young Comic," directed by Gary Weis who worked on SNL.
I see it is free on TUBI or $2 on Amazon. I have no idea if it is actually good, but I remember watching it when I was young because I loved stand-up comedy. Been a fan of Lewis ever since, watching him in the 80s on so many TV appearances.
I love the neuroses and the hypochondria that starts before he even says hello.

it's like when Garry Shandllng passed, I grew with these guys, always made me laugh, looked loved seeing them when they had shows. Nobody ever had a bad thing to say about them, they were just good people. Its very sad.
RIP Richard

Sad news. I’ve never watched Curb Your Enthusiasm very consistently but he was always funny in it. I mostly remember him from stand-up comedy’s hay day on the 80s. He was always funny when I watched him as kid.

That last appearance (so far) in CYE's latest season hits differently now. It's about Larry and Richard joking about outliving the other

Hard to believe he was 76. Im sure he would be appalled to have everyone knowing his real age! But the man had a very long career. I used to love listening to him and Howard Stern go at it 20 years ago. Watching some of the clips they are showing of him shows how great a comedian he was compared to some of the hacks out there today who have to rely on vulgar language and non stop talk about sex.
When Richard Lewis talked about sex it was only to complain about his own inadequacies as a lover. Most of his jokes were simple observational based things that you feel comfortable letting your kids listen to. It's amazing how some people can make so many people laugh just by talking about daily life. He was able to do this and he made it look easy. RIP Richard Lewis. Hopefully you're up there complaining to someone in heaven about your accommodations or something.
