I think companies are realizing paying millions for a Super Bowl spot is not as valuable anymore. Commercials can easily trend on social media without the Super Bowl hype.

I've been half-ass paying attention, but I have noticed several commercials for commercials (online) rather than paying for the full spot. Mostly movie trailers.
