Onimusha (S: Mifune)

This was an unexpected surprise for me. I don't recall seeing any mention of a series based on Onimusha in the works, or that it'd use the likeness of the late Toshiro Mifune.

Yeah very weird release since the last game in the series came out almost 20 years ago. They did a very bare bones remaster of the original game back in 2018 but it came and went under the radar.

Re: Onimusha (S: Mifune)

I just watched the first episode and it's really good. Felt more like watching an old school samurai flick with some supernatural elements, rather than a modern animated series. Really good stuff.

Anybody else watching?

Re: Onimusha (S: Mifune)

Watched the first 3 episodes and I dig it. Love the animation style, which looks to have been rotoscoped, so that's always cool. Also, Takeshi Mike co-directed the series, as well.

The episodes are all 30 minuted and less, so it's easier to digest than Blue Eyed Samurai, which have much longer episodes.
