Holy shit that was funny.

Price is Right was such a fantastic game show. Everyone was really excited and happy, and everyone seemed to really support the other contestants. Bob Barker was a supremely fun host, a great personality, and was truly an enjoyment to watch. I'm glad he made it to 99, and hope his time after retirement was awesome.

Re: Bob Barker - Dead at 99

Ten Chances was always one of the tougher games. Even when 4 of the 5 were for the car in the 80's But great clip. That's even post-Rod Roddy. Bob was so great. To put up with that.

I would love a YT loop of Bob trying to explain the Blank Check game.

I have fond memories watching The Price is Right, Barker had the perfect demeanor and charm for a game show host. Easily my favorite over Sajak and Trebek. The show was not the same once he left. Rest in peace to a legend.

I used to stay with my Grandparents during summer break when I was a kid. The Price is Right was must-see TV. Barker made the show fun for everyone. I haven't watched it since he retired. RIP.

Re: Bob Barker - Dead at 99

I'm watching the tribute show now. Love the footage from the original "New" TPiR debut.

Spoiler:

The first car in the Any Number Game (a TPiR original) was 2,746

In the first showcase, the 2nd contestant bid 2,500 and it was 2,504. Wow.

And so appropriate that his last appearance (April Fools 2015) was in Lucky 7 to give away a car. And of course they didn't give the contestant the outsider F-U numbers.

...and I never have seen the Original Wheel (debuted in 1975), when they went to an hour format.

I was thinking maybe it was something they aired in the past and just repackaged with a new Drew Carey opening?

Of course, the beginning of that "Joy" clip brought this to mind:

Saw the special this morning...Amazing the first Showcase Showdown winner was only off by four bucks!

Barker made a reference to the previous TPIR in 1956.
I saw those shows on BUZZR, the show was so much different back then...

About as funny as a typical Family Guy joke, but whoever did the voice got it spot-on. Was that actually Bob?

According to Family Guy Wiki, Bob was on three episodes of Family Guy. He’s also got an IMDB credit for the show.

Yep, it was him. And I actually found it funnier when it aired, as it was obviously bleeped out. For some reason that made the joke work better.

Even if that was the case, it was a great special. I have not watched The Price Is Right in many, many years, but I have fond memories of the show and it just feels right that so many people expressed their love of Bob Barker when he passed away.

I also did not realize that Adam Sandler produced and directed the show, but you can tell from the Happy Gilmore clip (a movie that I have not seen, but of all the people in my family who have, my mother has seen it, but I think she saw the edited for network TV airing, still...she watched it all the way through) that Bob Barker and Adam Sandler seem to have got along thick as thieves when Sandler was filming that movie.

Doesn't appear to be the same guy though...The other guy has directed 946 episodes so far since 2013:

Re: Bob Barker - Dead at 99

I’ve meant to post in here for a while but haven’t yet. I loved Bob Barker and The Price Is Right. Like many he was a big part of summer vacations or days off from school. He was just iconic and one of the best game show hosts of all time.

It’s funny too because my wife and I had been watching quite a bit of the Bob Barker era episodes on the Pluto channel and I commented a couple times about him still being alive. Making it to 99 is a pretty good run though.

RIP Bob and thanks for the memories.
