The first two seasons are solid in my opinion. Afterwards the show drops off pretty sharply. I kind of like season three too because of the dynamic between Dexter and Miguel. People praise season four but I don’t really enjoy it as to me it was the start of the downfall.

Probably a good idea. Just think of this as an "Elseworlds" Dexter.

I don't understand the thought process. Why not just reboot the whole series and start it from this point? Why hamstring yourself and the future timeline when you don't have to. They easily could have made this it's own new rebooted continuity. Make it more like the books that get super fucking weird to distinguish it from the original series. I'll still watch. But just seems like an odd way to keep the IP going.

I’ve been mildly curious about the books, but I hear that they really go off the rails and only a couple are good. I guess not a lot different from the show.

I think they don't want to give up the built-in fans of the original series who will watch this (in whatever numbers it might be). A lot riskier doing a full reboot with a better chance of lower viewership.

Personally, I'm 90% sure I won't watch it (but am mildly curious) - with a full-ass reboot I'm 100% out.

Re: Dexter: Original Sin - prequel series & Trinity series in the works

If it’s decent I’ll try to watch Dexter: Original Sin. I would prefer a full on reboot personally. So much of the original run (including New Blood) I don’t really care for and not sure why there’s the need to pigeonhole this new version into the existing highly flawed continuity.

Frankly as many Dexter fans as there may be I feel like there’s a good chunk of the fanbase that’s been pissed off twice now. Even if Original Sin is good it has a lot of baggage attached to it by being a prequel. I also think if this was a reboot people might be willing to give the new actor more of a shot.

The guy playing Dexter looks odd to me. Maybe seeing him in the role I’ll get used to him but kind of looks like a goober.

He looks odd because he doesn't look like Michael C. Hall wearing a bad wig.

Looks like a parody.

Seriously what the hell? It does look like a parody. Down to using music that sounds like it’s trying to be a knock off of the music in the original show.

It's a jauntier version of the theme but keeping with the style of the original. The first episode better be good or I'm out.

They fact they basically copied the original intro doesn't bode well for this series IMO.
