She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E09) - Season Finale - "Whose Show is This" - 10/13/22

There are some rumors out there about the finale, and if true it sounds pretty wild.

Just read the spoilers and... huh... wonder how that will go over.

Spoiler:

Definitely getting into Deadpool territory. Kind of surprised they didn't save that wacky shit for his debut in the MCU.

Hmmmm. Think they went a little too far with the meta. It worked better in the comics when Byrne etc did stuff like this.

The thing is that this isn’t Deadpool territory. Breaking the 4th wall and deviating from the storyline was the entire Sensational She-Hulk run that not only happened 7 years before Deadpool did it in the comics, but it was done before Deadpool was created. And the best part is that the episode made fun of the somewhat predictable Marvel endings for most of their movies and TV shows

Also, love that Matt Murdock/Daredevil was integrated to this show seamlessly and made perfect sense.

Re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E09) - Season Finale - "Whose Show is This" - 10/13/22

I didn't like this episode anywhere near as much as the others. I wish they wouldn't do the fourth wall breaking stuff. I don't think it will mesh with any of the other movies (except Deadpool) if she were to make an appearance anywhere else in the future. You could almost write off her other fourth wall breaking in the prior episodes as Jen having some kind of mental disorder of some sort, but it's hard to use that excuse in the last episode.

I did like the spoof of the 1970's/80's tv Incredible Hulk Theme. My daughter didn't have any idea why that was so funny or what it was associated with. I wonder how many people watching this episode knew what it was spoofing. I don't think much of the younger audience would have taken the time to watch the old series or even seen the them to that show before.

All I could think about while watching it was all the fans who insist upon making sense of the various MCU properties as canon. Poor Peter Parker left friendless and forgotten at the end of No Way Home , and all he had to do was go complain to K.E.V.I.N.

And if you've never seen Duck Amuck from 1953

Anyone identify all the comics that K.E.V.I.N. had?

One of the MCU wiki editors said that this one episode made for a lot of work with incorporating new articles about the “real world” as a new world.

That was wild. I don't know if I loved it or hated it, which makes me think I loved it. I appreciate that they did something completely different than anything they have before. Sort of weird to have Hulk's son as a throw away, but I guess easier than trying to explain that whole situation.

Charlie Cox, yet again, is amazing. I can't wait for the DD show.

Maslany was also amazing in this. Looking forward to future appearances of She-Hulk.

I am not going to spoil it, but the season finale of She-Hulk: Attorney-at-Law was the most insane, hysterical, brilliant finales I have ever seen on TV. I am amazed and frankly still stunned at what they did with this first season wrap-up.

K.E.V.I.N. had me rolling. Such a great concept… and they worked Fiege’s ball cap into the robot’s design. 🤣

DD fits into this better than he should.

Bring on Season 2!

That’s fine but it was her gimmick first. Deadpool shouldn’t get to own that. She-Hulk wouldn’t be She-Hulk in her own show if she couldn’t do that.

This was incredible. Jaw-dropping with how far they took it. This is top tier in the MCU for me - love Tatiana’s take on this character and everything they’ve done with her. Can’t wait for more!

This was brilliant. They skewered the entire MCU in such a loving way. They parodied Marvel's storylines, fan expectations (Kevin: "see you on the big screen". Jen: "really?" Kevin: "No." ) and made this such a fin show to watch.

Yeah, I've read some of Byrne's Sensational She-Hulk run.

I compared it to Deadpool because he's coming to the MCU in the near future, so it seemed to kind of weird to have another MCU superhero who is self-aware that they're a fictional character in a story.

The MCU doesn't have the same back catalog of material that Marvel Comics (three decades and thousands of comic books) did when JB was writing and drawing She-Hulk in the early 90s, so it really stands out.

Add in all of the multiversal weirdness they're currently putting out (Loki, Love & Thunder) and I think they really run the risk of introducing too much frivolous and jokey meta stuff into the MCU.

I think it's probably better that they limit this kind of stuff to a single character like Deadpool, otherwise there's real risk of having too many characters talking to the audience, complaining about the writers, and name-dropping actors.

I loved this show beginning to end! It was different and fun. Love how they went after the "bro" internet culture, but also took shots at themselves too. I never got tired of the 4th wall smashing, and I think they'll handle it fine in any future projects. The part where the D+ menu screen came up was pure gold.

SHOCKED they went there with the Hulk reveal at the end. Figured they'd hold that for the movies.

Loved this finale! The opening with the throw-back to the old Hulk series - which I watched back then - had me howling! The rest was just off-the-rails fun!

That was nuts in the best sort of way. Couldn't believe they went where they did yet somehow it still worked for me. Very fun episode.
Hoping for a Best Actress, Comedy Emmy nomination for Tatiana. She deserves it.
