Everyone's such a tormented soul on this show. So much hand-wringing. You can have a character like that, but not half of the characters of the show.
Still too much filler in this show.
We didn't need a whole episode dedicated to Sydney and her babysitting. Come on.
The wedding episode was way too long and unnecessary. Did we need a 3 minute scene with Tiffany and Sarah Paulson on the bed? Tiffany's such a minor character, and we only saw Paulson once before. Who cares about their relationship?
I know I called her "kinda cute" in previous seasons, but Claire is basically "two-face" from the Seinfeld episode. Sometimes she looks just OK, and other times she looks scary. Close-up shots of her face don't help.
There's only a 14 year difference between the actors.

I finished the last two episodes last night and I liked it. Some episodes went on a little too long. It's funny though that it took them four seasons to finally get their act together as they're about to lose the restaurant. I used to hate Richie, but he's now my favorite character. Very good growth and development of his character arc. Many of the characters are dealing with grief, not having a father or mother figure in their lives, and bad childhoods. I'm glad to see that they might be getting it together. I really liked the final scene of the finale with Sugar since she just really wants Carm to do whatever makes him happy.

I just finished the season after a 2-night binge. Overall, I thought it was better than Season 3. A few things (spoilers):
Why did Syd turn down the offer at the other restaurant with just a few days to go on the parachute? I mean, it's a very perilous position for everyone and the Bear might well be in it's last few days. She would've had a nice landing spot at the new place if Uncle Jimmy pulled the plug, and a worthless Partnership Agreement with a business entering Chapter 7 or 11.
I've never worked in a restaurant but what are all these people doing hanging around with "10 hours 'til Service"? I get that some people are needed to start the prep, review the menu, and get set up, but there doesn't seem to be much to do for waitstaff and other support staff. 10 hours of prep followed by 3-4 hours of service, followed by 2 hours of clean up. That's a 16-hour day in my book. Is this place open two or three nights a week or are they open six nights? Also, if you're 10 hours from Service, wouldn't you hang up your coat and tie to keep them fresh for later?
These folks hanging out as "stajes", I mean what is that? In the context they described it, it sounded like sort of an unpaid internship. Hard to imagine people putting in all those hours gratis without having an equity position in the business.
Finally, was this the first season they floated that Marcus is gay? I might have missed it. Maybe that's why he's estranged from his Dad, but we'll have to wait until 2026 to find out.

All this commotion and money for a such a small restaurant. They keep mentioning that they've got to find a way to turn a profit, and are trying to ensure they get a fast turnover of diners. Here's an idea... get a bigger restaurant that can serve more customers.

There were a few scenes that made me think that Theo was gay.

I thought it was implied that the real estate agent who sold his mom's house was his boyfriend. They mentioned he was "really into design" and said he was jealous about the "hot guy" he studied under in Amsterdam. Later, he was shown at the wedding as his "Plus One".

They should rename this The Bore.
Jeezus, the last two seasons have been fucking awful. It's been twenty episodes that make you feel like you're eavesdropping on strangers' conversations.

I don't know whether it's me or this show, but I'm just not very invested in it anymore. I'm only 7 eps into the season 4 despite it being out for a month now, and it's been a major slog to get even this far. I just don't care about the characters or the storylines anymore. It started with season 3 and has carried over to this season for me.
I don't think the very nature of the storyline of the show has enough 'meat' to it to sustain 5 seasons, which is why they rely so heavily on 'artistic montages' and snappy, quippy dialogue, which just gets annoying after a while. It's not how people talk in real life and it comes across as trying too hard.
I also agree with what was said earlier in the thread about everyone being a tortured soul. This show is kind of annoying.

Based on word of mouth I watched the first two seasons and when they announced a third I was actually disappointed because now I would have to watch more of the show due to my completist compulsion. But instead I bravely dropped it and nothing bad happened and for that I am grateful.

Last season of everyone hand-wringing and blowing everything out of proportion.
