Not really sure how this can be good and to be honest the first season fizzled with the caricature evil Americans and that stupid glass bridge thing. Plus I figured out the twist very early. It was very interesting in the beginning though and quite shocking.

I can't shake the feeling that this was never intended to be more than a one off and he was pressured into making another season (and of course had a ton of money thrown his way) and that S2 can't possibly come close to S1 in terms of quality. He had years to develop and refine the story for S1, now a second season that wasn't planned for will be rushed out. Hope I'm wrong of course

Considering the first season was just a bunch of hype I don't see this as anything exciting. How many more kids games can he come up with to twist into interesting ways to kill people? And really, I didn't find anything 'shocking' once I watched this. Every show has graphic deaths these days. Blame video games with their high levels of gore and exploding pools of blood.
I think that article with links to Netflix's new slate of shows is pretty interesting tho. Netflix productions certainly seem to rely on a lot of gimmicks or high concept ideas and the writing never seems to be developed completely on shows that don't have original source material to steal from. Not exactly a great 'brand' but I guess that's part of their throw shit at the wall and see what sticks way of doing things when it comes to picking out projects to move forward.
