Revived: https://deadline.com/2022/02/futuram...er-1234929844/

20 episodes in 2023. Everyone but John DiMaggio appears to be signed at this point.

Re: Any News/Hope of a Futurama Resurrection?

Good news, everyone!

Wait, John DiMaggio isn't involved? Not quite as good news.

This is good news but with Dimmaggio I’m a little leery

Without DiMaggio they can bite my shiny metal daffodil.

I think they think they can still get DiMaggio, he's just holding out for more money. Apparently West and Sagal are cheap.

If DiMaggio is in, I'll watch. Otherwise, my interest is greatly diminished.

As good as DiMaggio is, it's truly an ensemble cast and I think it would survive recasting. Maybe even write it into the show as a gag.

But otherwise I'm excited to see this. We've been rewatching the show lately. We had seen every episode of the first run via [adult swim] repeats, but hadn't been able to keep after that. So recently we started with the movies (that are cut into episodes on Hulu) and are working our way through the Comedy Central run now. I'm recognizing some of them, but others are new to us. I know the show has had a few finales already but they've always been a bit open ended and this is such a fun group of characters to watch.

This show has a weird history being cancelled, brought back for movies, brought back on Comedy Central, cancelled, and now being brought back to Hulu.

I’ll still probably check out new episodes though. Hopefully DiMaggio comes back to play Bender.

He’s being difficult. It’s a voice acting job, that takes very little time over 20 episodes, and wants more money. What a tool.

I like how you comment, not knowing anything about the situation. Maybe they lowballed him. Maybe he makes more money doing other things. : shrug:

You don’t know anything about the situation either except the two other main cast members, who took the same pay and have similar (If not better careers). I’d say they are more well known as well in general.

It’s his loss. They’ll come to some deal to bring him back since Disenchanted is all but dead on Netflix and he has nothing else going on according to his IMDB.

You are right. I don't know. Which is why I don't make stupid assumptions.

I don’t care what DiMaggio’s motivations are - if he’s not involved I won’t be watching.

If you say so. He was offered a price the same as the other top cast members and turned it down. His loss. Now he is trying to get fans to rally with him. What a putz.

He's definitely riling up fans.

Wonder if he's after a season 11 pay instead of whatever a rebooted show gets.

Table read is Monday, so this has been stalled for some timesaver his pay demands. This is probably just Hulu/Disney giving a much more firm deadline for him.

Cool. I don’t think they’d do it without good material. My guess is they’ve been building material this whole time. Which is when the best comes out. Tho the final episode was pretty definitive.

The Comedy Central seasons had some amazing episodes.

Bender is a big, broad voice; I would think it would be easy to imitate.

I do a decent Bender voice. Someone pass my name along for an audition, thanks.

As good as DiMaggio is at the voice, I kinda think it would be amusing to have the other cast members rotate doing Bender’s voice - like there’s a problem with his voice chip. I feel like Lauren Tom especially would be amusing.

Love Futurama, but no DiMaggio = no sale for me.

I'm curious where this will pick up from given the weird seasons toward the end. Nonetheless still looking forward to this!!

Bender is the most annoying character anyway. They should just drop him. Replace him with a female robot.

Wait, DiMaggio wants to do it, but they're not having him back?
Is he asking for too much money or something?

Yes, it's about money.
