Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
Going through some of Norm’s old Weekend Update stuff, I totally forgot that he used to pull out a tape recorder with “Note to self…” after his news stories.

Who would have thought that Artie Lange would outlive Norm?

Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
Completely gutted over this. Norm was a genius. It was nothing to click on one YouTube video and end up blowing a couple of hours going down the Norm rabbit hole. Whether old stuff or things I'd never seen before, the sheer joy of his jokes, let alone if there were others around to react at the hilarity, originality/twist on an old joke, utter stupidity, or sheer offensiveness of his humor.
I feel so sorry for the people that don't get Norm. I wish I'd made the effort to see him at least once. RIP Norm; thanks for all the laughs. |
Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
I’ll miss him.
For anyone who wants some recent norm, his podcast was great. They taped it and it’s on YouTube. Good 1+ hour episodes. They kinda came and went. |
Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
Another favorite Norm MacDonald SNL skit was where he played Bob Dole on MTV's Real World.
Can't seem to find that online anywhere. Let's hope SNL does a Norm MacDonald special. |

"Cock."

Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
Did someone say "cock?"
(Even back when I saw this, I was surprised he got away with bits like that...) |

Can't seem to find that online anywhere. Almost a week later, and I'm still hurting over this. I've re-read this entire post several times over the past week. I'm happy to see so many other people here who loved this guy. He was a storyteller as much as he was a comedian. |
Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
Oh, Love the Kojak story. Just watching a random rerun from the 70s and making it hilarious. One of a kind delivery (like how he keeps repeating green)
Listened to Conan's podcast where he said that Norm didn't pander to the audience. I can watch Jay Leno and predict the punchlines of his jokes after I hear the set-ups. Norm's punchlines were unpredictable. Lots of surprise in where he goes with a subject and his word choice. (or just shouting the word COCK at the end) |
Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
I used to live in L.A. in the late 90's so we'd go down to CBS Television City to be in the audience for Dennis Miller's HBO show on Friday nights, especially when Norm was going to be on. Because you just knew it was going to be hilarious. And it always was. So strange to think I'm still laughing at those via grainy YouTube videos almost a quarter century later & Norm is gone.

Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
Imagine if he had recorded a video of himself to be aired after his death, commenting on his own death. This would be the perfect opening line.https://i.imgur.com/1lfqRE1.png

Surprise Netflix standup special coming May 30.
wow. He recorded it about a year before his death in his living room. |
Re: Norm MacDonald dead at 61
When I saw this thread got bumped, I was afraid he had come back to life.
