I thought maybe that was Willow. I really tried with that show. My kids love the movie and despite my efforts they had zero interest in the show after a few minutes and trailers.

Looks good to me - and high time it returned. I re-read the entire book series since finishing Season 1

Looks improved visually over season 1. However, I was not overly impressed with the characters or story from season 1. Plus it’s been ages so I’ll have to watch a recap. However, with the tv wasteland forthcoming from fallout from the stroke, this will probably be a watch.

I am a huge WoT fan. I have read the books more than 5 times complete (except for the Sanderson ones that I ignore like they never happened).

I was pretty underwhelmed by the first season. So many really disappointing decisions. Spending almost an entire episode on the death of a warder, the terrible final 2 episodes. Some good too with the Whitecloak changes and some of the performances were solid

I have to see I am still in a wait and see frame of mind, but it seems like Season 2 will follow the books much closer and that is a good thing. Also it looks MUCH better. Hopefully they right the ship with Season 2.

Man, I think Sanderson makes the books better. I know he was tasked with finishing but I think the storytelling improves when he enters the picture. Makes the last few entries more fun to read to me.

Re: The Wheel of Time (Amazon) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/1/23

After finishing Jack Ryan the other day, I went looking for something new to watch and decided that I never finished the first season of The Wheel of Time. When I clicked on it, I realized I DID in fact finish the first season and just didn’t remember jack shit about it.

I may watch season 2 but the first season was wholly unremarkable.

Could not disagree with that more. I really like Sanderson's own books but I think his Wheel of Time books are just awful.

Season 2 is out now. I don't know if I'll have time to watch it. I was disappointed with how rushed the season one finale was.

Re: The Wheel of Time (Amazon) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/1/23

I keep trying to remember the first season but then I think, no, that was that Lord of the Rings show or, no, that was the Willow show, or yes, that was this show... I think.

I didn't enjoy it enough to go back and rewatch the first season but I'll put season two on in the background this fall.

Sorry. Amazon and Wheel of Time fans, that's all I can give here.

Supremely fucking boring start to the season (episode 1).
Way to not engage a returning audience.

I'll start it up once more episodes become available. S1 had the full season, but now this one only has 3 to start and weekly thereafter.

Oh, so it’s starting season 2 the way season 1 ended?

Spoiler:
She one of the Forsaken

Re: The Wheel of Time (Amazon) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/1/23

Episode 1 was kind of a drag. The whole Warder/Aes Sedai bond thing might work better in the books, but it feels very "Twilight" in this show. I believe the kids on the tiktoks would call al'Lan the world's biggest "simp."

Eps 2 and 3 were better. I liked the Nynaeve story, though it was predictable how it would end it was still well done. I'm curious about Mat and his new friend and what Liandrin is up to. Rand's lady friend is hot.

Watching the latest episode (ep 4), I realized the actress playing Rand's lady friend was Lizzie, Tommy's whore/wife, on Peaky Blinders.

Re: The Wheel of Time (Amazon) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/1/23

Finally got around to watching the first two episodes. I didn't love the first season, but I love the books, so I'm giving it a chance. So far, still not in love. I hate the slow pacing, especially knowing that there's only 8 episodes and a TON of material to cover. I also hate what they've done to Lan. Went from tall, stoic, one of the greatest swordsmen in the world to a wuss who can't beat a myrddral. Lame. Too many shots of Moiraine staring off in the distance for 5 minutes. I know she's the "big star" of the show, but come on. Anyway, not hate-watching yet, but I hope it gets better. Also, Loial should be WAY bigger. OK, that's it.

So wait, is everyone who's supposed to be "Good" now "Bad" and everyone who's supposed to be "Bad" now "Good"?

Loved seeing Lindsey Duncan in this.

Re: The Wheel of Time (Amazon) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/1/23

I am now liking this season more than the first. However, I can't keep track of the different factions and their agendas and who's working with who. I should probably read a synopsis to sort it all out. Anyway, the Egwene story is interesting and I can't wait for her keeper to get her comeuppance.

Re: The Wheel of Time (Amazon) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/1/23

The season 2 final episode is out this week. It's pretty good--everything comes to a head and there is lots of action and resolution to some conflicts, while leaving a few ongoing threads as well as introducing some new elements to explore in season 3.

The book series is probably one of my favorite series ever, but Im so disappointed in the show. There are so many changes that just dont make sense. Its like the show runner read the books in another language and decided to translate it and put it on screen. I mean the major beats are there but everything from point A to point B is backwards. Hope the last 2 episodes salvage this season. At this point I may just be hate watching it.

i have stopped watching since they changed so much from the books. I am only watching youtube recaps.
Spoiler:
Rand has very little agency and had his moment again upstaged by others. He doesnt even proclaim himself as the Dragon reborn as Moiraine did that for him. At this point I expect the showrunners to pull a swerve and make Rand the false Dragon and give it to Egwene as the real Dragon reborn.
the worst offender is that the magic system makes no sense and people are powered up or down to fit plot points but are contradictory later on.

Season 3. March 13, 2025. The fantasy series that everyone completely forgot.
