Raylen Givens, first scene with the draw at the Miami restaurant table in Justified. I’ve rewound that scene many times.

Great choice! Most expensive pilot to date and every cent of it is up on the screen. I was totally hooked.

Along the same lines, same DNA is The Leftovers. I didn't care much for Season One, but that opening scene is iconic and certainly influenced a multi-billion dollar franchise.

The opening scene of the first episode of Dexter is pretty memorable. Set the tone for the series right off the bat with an intense capture/kill.

My favorites...

For a series premiere, definitely LOST.

For a specific episode, “24” - S4.E6 - Jack Bauer’s rescue mission by infiltrating a terrorist compound. Still my claim for the best shootout scene in TV series history.

It's funny to me that Lost's ($14m) pilot is now only 6th highest and somehow Vinyl now holds that record at $30m.

Specific episode Voyager 3x26, Scorpion pt 1. The Borg get their butts handed to them by an offscreen enemy. Smash cut to opening credits.

Watching original Justified: Fire in the Hole (S1) again and that opening shoot out gets me every time. I was enthralled by the tenseness and brazen way to start a new series. Bold and shocking and refreshing.

Battlestar Galactica 2003(?) was a mini-series that led to the series but seeing human Cylons and Six kiss the diplomat before they destroyed the basis was a pretty big statement that it was different than the 70s version.
