What's everyone's favorite What-Ifs? I didn't read it a ton, but remember a newer one (early 2000s?) that was "What if Legion killed Prof X AND Magneto?" Where like a ragtag Avengers make a last bid against Apocalypse. I think Thing has a metal arm in it and Captain Britain wears an Iron Man suit.

The What-Ifs have pretty much gone out of style since Marvel proper started doing alternate-timeline/universe/future stories. It's been a long time since I read it, but I still think "What if Spider-Man Saved Gwen Stacy" is among the better ones.

Yeah, I mean Secret Wars 2015 was essentially "What If...: The Event".

I liked the original run of What If's. Most of the later ones since the first series were basically off shoots of current or very recent storylines rather than creating scenarios you would wonder about as a kid like, "What if Thor met Conan". Instead the later ones were things like, "What if Spider-Man the Other".

Is that What If story based on the "Age of Apocalypse" storyline from the mid-90s?

"Age of Apocalypse" was, in and of itself, basically one big "What If" arc, where history got changed (Professor X died), and then all eight of the current X-Men titles were re-named and retooled for four months. (Amazing X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, Factor-X, X-Calibre, Weapon X, Gambit and the X-Ternals, X-Man, Generation X). I was disappointed that they renumbered all of the books with #1 instead of keeping the old numbers, though after the event and the X-Man title reverted back to Cable, they kept X-Man going with #5 when he ended up in the regular Marvel Universe.

Mainly because Daredevil was my favorite character. This was the better of the Daredevil What Ifs..
(The Ghost Rider story wasn't that bad either)

And of course. The reason why the ending of X-Men: Last Stand was so stupid.

Spoiler:

I had that one, it was one of my favorites (of course I was X-Men obsessed at the time, like everyone else reading Marvel). I also liked "What If Elektra Had Lived" and around that time they also did a humor issue of one and two page parody What If's, my favorite was "What If Daredevil was Deaf Instead of Blind" and he was constantly mishearing what bad guys were saying as he was beating the crap out of them.

Dang, I still have that one! I last bought comics back in the early 80s but still have them in boxes that have moved with me across the country a handful of times. I never look at them but just don't want to pitch them either. I should start framing some just for the cover art.

Did Logan hide in the bushes, wait for Hulk to turned back into Banner and then stabbed him?

Because of Matt's blindness, he wasn't able to see the sick joke Shield played on him with that yellow and purple costume.

To be honest, I don't even remember. But keep in mind that I last read that comic nearly 40 years ago.

I was inspired to go read that issue. BTW, Marvel Unlimited is awesome!

They didn't really explain or show much. Just that Wolverine 'kept hacking at his neck' until the Hulk died.

The second story in that issue was fun as well. Ben Grimm reacted 'poorly' to the changes the cosmic rays caused, and it all ultimately led to the FF, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Spider-Man never coming to be.

Re: Marvel Studios What If...? (Disney +) -- Premieres 8/11/21

Am I correct in assuming that many of the characters in What If? (which I have not watched yet) had their animated characters show up in previous Marvel Animation shows/films, and these characters were not always voiced by the actor/actress most closely associated with them due to the popularity of the live action MCU films? I googled and see that David Sobolov voiced Drax in the animated series, but they did not even bother using him for Drax in What If?, so no continuity even between earlier animated series starring Drax. It clearly is not intended as a slight to Bautista that he was not asked to voice Drax, as Marvel Animation clearly did not set out to provide continuity between who voiced characters in past animated shows and who voices them in What If? I think that I see tweets like that directed at Bautista and feel that fans are trying to create a tempest in a teapot.

Bradley Whitford from the Agent Carter one shot. Nice pull.
