I'll check it out, I think Hernandez had the chance to be the next breakout star from SNL, but it sure looks like they pushing Ashley Padilla instead.

The show has room for many stars at once.

I like Padilla. I don’t know why, but she gives me Ana Gasteyer vibes, but a bit more on the crazy side (in a good way).

Tell that to Lorne.

(I agree with you,by the way, but the show lately has a tendency to push one cast member at the expense of many (talented) others)

Marcello had the funniest sketch so far this season with the Maniscalco impression.

Dana Carvey said he preferred the small casts when he worked on the show in the mid to late 80's but then it grew and it never went back to the small casts.

Yet oddly enough, Carvey was part of the "murderer's row" era of the show, when the comedic talent was almost all A-listers: Carvey, Myers, Hartman, Sandler, Rock, Farley, Spade. Even the "B-listers" Nealon and Schneider could still carry a sketch. THAT was an era where Lorne knew what to do with a large cast, all of them got ample screen time (although the actors themselves might disagree, Carvey obviously does).

‘SNL’ Sets Finn Wolfhard, Teyana Taylor and Alexander Skarsgård as Hosts
Ethan Shanfeld
Jan 7, 2026 1:00pm PT

“Saturday Night Live” is ringing in the new year with three new episodes in January, led by first-time hosts Finn Wolfhard, Teyana Taylor and Alexander Skarsgård. They’ll be joined by respective musical guests A$AP Rocky, Geese and Cardi B.

On Jan. 17, Wolfhard will make his “SNL” debut a couple of weeks after the series finale of Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” on which he has starred since 2016. Rocky, who starred in Spike Lee’s “Highest 2 Lowest,” has his fourth album, “Don’t Be Dumb,” dropping Jan. 16.

Taylor will command Studio 8H on Jan. 24 while on her awards campaign for “One Battle After Another,” in which she stars opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. She has already received Golden Globe, Critics Choice and Actor Award (formerly SAG) nominations for her performance in the Paul Thomas Anderson film. Brooklyn band Geese will make a stop on their world tour in celebration of its 2025 album “Getting Killed.”

Skarsgård will host “SNL” on Jan. 31 to promote his film “Pillion,” out Feb. 6, as well as his role in the Charli xcx movie “The Moment,” premiering on Jan. 30. Cardi B will make her second appearance on the series, performing songs from her new album, “Am I the Drama?”

Holy shit, Geese SNL MG!!!!

I knew they were fans, they had James Austin Johnson do a Cameron Winter impression on the Christmas episode.

Alexander Skarsgård looks like he might kill on the show and he seems like a goofy guy as well as being a fun actor to watch.

Tracy Morgan, Daniel Radcliffe, and Bobby Moynihan have a new NBC/Peacock comedy.

No topic of it yet.

We're watching it right now.

It's mostly terrible but has a few decent laughs.

Another faux documentary style show.
Surprised Radcliffe agreed to this.
Does he not do movies anymore

Bobby Moynaham is huuuge again. Maybe larger then he was before

I did not see any of them on Fallon or anywhere promoting the shows or any promos on Sunday Night Football and it just showed up yesterday.

I figure I'll run into her now that she's off SNL.

Amazing behind the scenes rehearsal footage from 1978, with the Rolling Stones:

Here's a rare treat. This video has not been seen since it was shot on October 6, 1978. In an opening skit, the cast of SNL and The Rolling Stones are seen blocking shots. Featured in this behind-the-scenes look at what happens during an SNL rehearsal are John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtin, Larraine Newman, Al Franken, Tom Davis, Garrett Morris, Also seen are Lorne Michaels, Director Dave Wilson, and a very funny performance by Paul Shaeffer doing his Don Kirschner impression. Of course, all the Stones are included as well. It's a very interesting look at how the SNL cast and crew worked to put the show together in this rehearsal with The Rolling Stones for their Season 4 premiere.

Paul Shaeffer as Don Kirschner. rotfl

I wonder when Sebastian Maniscalco and Bert Kreischer will host SNL two big stars in comedy and I though SNL always wants to get people that are hot to host the show.

Didn't realize tonight's episode was show #1000.

Julia Stiles at #500 and Skarsgard at #1000 shows they aren't making much of these numerical milestones.

Re: SNL General Discussion Thread

Elle MacPherson at 400 is not much better either.

Skarsgard is good so he does not belong in that discussion.

I think that 100, 500, 1000 would be the milestones, and it's not about being good, it's about special significance.

I don't know if it is a recent addition, but I just saw that Prime has the entire first five seasons available for free.

SNL UK wil debut on Sat March 21 or a different day if it is U.S. time but have no idea how to watch.

Live from London, it’s Saturday Night!”

That turn of an iconic TV phrase will be bellowed in just a matter of weeks, when the highly anticipated Saturday Night Live UK makes its debut across the pond.

SNL UK is set to premiere Saturday, March 21, airing on Sky and streaming on NOW. (An exact time slot has yet to be announced, nor have any plans for possible Stateside broadcast/streaming.)
The plan is still for an initial Season (Series?) 1 run of just six episodes. The cast for the international offshoot of the legendary NBC sketchy comedy series has also been revealed, with Hammed Animashaun (The Wheel of Time), Ayoade Bamgboye (Best Newcomer at the 2025 Edinburgh Comedy Awards), Scottish comedian Larry Dean (Mock the Week), Celeste Dring (The Windsors), and George Fouracres (The Franchise) set to occupy whatever the Studio 8H equivalent is at BBC Studioworks in West London.

The cast of 11 also boasts Ania Magliano (Taskmaster), Annabel Marlow (Six the Musical at Edinburgh Fringe), Al Nash (Michael McIntyre’s Big Show), Jack Shep (Big Boys), Emma Sidi (Starstruck), and Paddy Young (Everyone Else Burns).
