‘SNL’ Postproduction Workers Date Potential Strike as Negotiations Proceed

As negotiations for their first contract have hit the skids, postproduction workers at Saturday Night Live are preparing for a strike.

In a series of tweets on Thursday, the union representing these workers — The Motion Picture Editors Guild (IATSE Local 700) — described bargaining sessions that haven’t come close to addressing the concerns of the group, a set of 12-20 crew members who primarily work on the show’s pretaped sketches. “NBCU has refused fair compensation, refused to commit to maintaining existing health benefits, & refused to show SNL’s post crew the respect they deserve,” the union, representing the group of film editors, editors, assistant editor and media managers, alleged in their messages. “NBCU wants to shut us up – so we will yell louder. Plan to join us on the picket line April 1st.”

I miss the days when they played the music when they show photos or portraits of the hosts

Salam Hayek showed she was good sport to do that sketch. And is that the only recorded history of Fallon and Sanz not giggling at each other in a sketch?

Re: SNL general discussion thread

I think the SNL era from 2001-2008 was the second best era after the early 90's era,

Re: SNL general discussion thread

I was a baby during the Not Ready for Prime Time players though I have seen some of their stuff but still think the early 90's cast with the actors and writing staff would blow the original cast away.

What made the early 90's so great were the comedians and the writers and it could be like sports where you have great players and coaches and you can achieve greatness.

I had never seen this sketch until the other day. Mulaney’s reaction to getting slimed is hilarious.

But you’ve heard of Quinta Brunson and Lil Yachty? You’re two up on me.

Quita Brunsnon is the creator and star of the ABC sitcom "Abbott Elementary." I guess it is safe to say that if have never heard of it or her, you paid absolutely no attention to any coverage of last year's Emmy winners.

Lil Yachty is, of course, a small boat.

Re: SNL general discussion thread

Yeah, Abbott Elementary is fabulous and she won an Emmy and a couple of Golden Globes already.

And Lil Yachty is my favorite Lil rapper, after Lil Wayne, Lil Jon, Lil Baby and Lil Nas X.

Re: SNL general discussion thread

^ I had to google her. I’ve heard of Abbott Elementary but I’ve never seen it and don’t know who is involved with it. I also didn’t pay any attention to the Emmy coverage. Years ago, I used to love the Emmys. Over time, they’ve become pretty irrelevant to me. I just don’t watch that many tv shows anymore.

I am proud to say I know all of those people even though I don't follow Brunson, Lil Yachty, or Carol G.

Re: SNL general discussion thread

I was watching a 2000 episode with Jaime Foxx and Colin Quinn got booed several times during WU.

It is rare you hear the crowd boo during WU and wonder if they censor that to not make the hosts or show look bad?

Che and Jost have both had to defend their “reports” as jokes or it is not real when the audience turns on them.

which implies you have heard of Lil Yatzi? That would put you ahead of me.

I wonder what Molly Shannon is up to that warrants hosting. I've seen her in a few things that were not popular as of late. "I love you for that" and some show as the mom of a teen start which was good but the kid grew 2 feet between seasons and was no longer a little cute kid. LOL

I only know who Lil Yachty is because I saw the frozen pizzas in Walmart and googled him.
