But I think I want a spin off show with Kayla and Jimmy.

Yes! Kayla and Jimmy are fuckin' hilarious. And the new assistant is a RIOT I would watch all of that.

i think this is the best scripted series on tv. it all connects. every show, every episode. it's amazing writing and acting. this has been so consistent for me. since ep1 S1, this show just loves to have fun.

The show is as good as ever IMO, really enjoying the new season so far.

Vance just gets more terrible every season.

She is an awful unlikable person so maybe that's what they want her to be.

Yes to all of this. It is intentional(check out the Official podcast or even the short after show video with the show Creators ). Both Deb and Ava have fallen back on their weaknesses from Season 1. These women need each other and are both too angry and hurt to admit it. They aren't listening to each other, and both are right... and yes...wrong about what they need to do for the new show to succeed.

Me just realizing "Mayor Jo" is played by Lauren Weedman. Lauren also plays Miss Schemmenti's sister on Abbot Elementary.

Fantastic season. Please give Smart another Emmy now please. She was unbelievable. Really enjoyed this season and that finale was just great. Can’t wait for more.

Could she have done like a podcast as a way of not breaching the contract? I thought that they might have been going there, but glad they took it where they did. That end was just perfect.

I hope they tone down Jimmy and Kayla. Personally, I can't imagine a world in which Debora would have sat there listening to Kayla berate the two of them loudly in front of the other crew. They both take away from the show IMHO and suck the air out of the sceens. Jimmy going 'gorilla mode' was straight up assault, and he would be in a jail cell FFS.

That said, it's fun to see Kayla's dad! loved him in Deadwood and Something About Mary.

Finished this season up tonight. I thought the intent was for this to be the final season.

It was good, but it kind of re-hashed the same old issues.
Although, we do see Deborah finally understand to put people first - however, we further realize that she's a workaholic and has nothing else going on in her life.

The Kayla character crossed the line between funny/quirky to cringe and annoying this season.

An Eric Balfour sighting. Haven't seen him in anything for close to 10 years.

Just realized that Deborah's daughter's name is DJ Vance. So close.

well, 5 great seasons (which are highly rewatchable) of this show is better than nothing.

First episode off to a great start.

I love how she's oh, I'll get an EGOT.
