Re: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (S1E01) - “New World Order” - 3/19/21

It was good, but mostly set up. Felt like act 1 of a new MCU movie. Sam and Bucky did not have a single scene yet. That opening sequence with Sam was pretty spectacular. That was MCU movie quality, not a streaming TV series. Great to see Rhodey again. Bucky’s stuff with him trying to atone for his past sins was also good character development for him.

The end was interesting with that introduction of “Captain America”. There’s only 5 more episodes left, so this has to get going pretty quickly.

I thought it was a great start. Loved the opening sequence’s nods to The Winter Soldier’s opening.

Wyatt Russell as US Agent. I can’t recall the last time I saw him without a beard.

We know you were involved with saving the universe, but.......we can't help you with that loan. Would it really be necessary explaining the five year gap? That would be like explaining the pandemic to someone a few years down the road. Entertaining episode for the most part but did feel like a set up. I'm tempted to wait a month or so and watch the rest in one go.

Pretty good start. Bucky has become one of my favorite characters over the years. There's not much to comment on, but good first episode and looking forward to seeing where it's going.

Re: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (S1E01) - “New World Order” - 3/19/21

I thought the opening action sequence was a little rough, but otherwise enjoyed it. Normally I think Bucky is pretty boring, but I was interested in what was going on with him for once and definitely interested in the Sam stuff and going into the inner workings of how the Avengers operated. The part I'm most looking forward to by far is US Agent and how Sam grapples with that. The politics in general, actually, because the Flag Smashers seem more like a heroic organization to me, the bank robbery notwithstanding. Three alien invasions and another near-extinction event within 11 years. Definitely feel like there should be a worldwide "EU" at this point, if not something more concrete.

I dug the first episode. It already feels cinematic. I really like the character of Bucky, so that’s my main draw here. I’m also looking forward to seeing more of Sam’s story.

I don't think I've ever seen the credits of a tv episode run for 5 minutes. I will likely watch this one more time with my daughter.

Either I forgot Rhodey was going to be in this or I never knew. Pleasant surprise. That opening sequence was bad ass. Hopefully that isn't the last we see of Batroc.

Don't they go to
Spoiler:
Madripoor?
Pretty sure that has been confirmed.

I think that is where some of that speculation comes from.

This show isn’t going to do any of that.

Wow, had no idea it was him. He looked old as fuck! His face was scrunched up like Popeye.

Watched it just now and it was fine. Loved that opening sequence. Also loved the Bucky flashback when he was still a bad guy. So they mentioned that it's only been a few months since everyone reappeared/Endgame.

Re: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (S1E01) - “New World Order” - 3/19/21

I liked this quite a bit. It’s interesting to see Sam and Bucky who both obviously have ties to Steve, and what makes them all similar, but also different.

I feel instantly on board with the show after one episode and am ready to see how the rest of the season pans out.

One thing- I wonder when Steve actually died. We see him at the end of Endgame as an old man and he gives Sam the shield. I’m guessing he must have passed on shortly afterwards.

No one in the episode said he was dead, just "gone". I don't think he's dead.

In a Bob Dylan nod, Sam was working for a while on a fishing boat just outside of Delacroix.

Re: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (S1E01) - “New World Order” - 3/19/21

Loved the first episode. The opening sequence was extremely cool. We've gotten to see Sam's wingsuit in bits and pieces (usually because there are lots of other heroes doing stuff too) so it was neat to just focus on him and what he can really do. And Redwing is a badass

Loved the stuff with Bucky too. Of course Cap got most of the attention but Bucky is a "man out of time" as well - fun to see that acknowledged. And yeah, it does suck that they don't get paid to be Avengers. I guess meals and equipment are provided by Stark Enterprises? Never really thought about that before (though Tony has cracked that he pays for everything). I love it when the shows and movies try to address some of the same things that fans discuss.

Bring on the rest of the series!

Is this a one-and-done series like Wandavision?

I believe so. Disney's language for those is "event series." In the Star Wars world, The Mandalorian is just a series while Obi wan is referred to as an "event series."
