Hal Holbrook dead at 95

Hal has done some movies, but the majority of his resume is TV.

RIP at least he and Dixie Carter will finally be reunited.

What a bummer. Loved the Fog, Rituals and Creepshow among many others. R.I.P.

Re: Hal Holbrook dead at 95

RIP. The first movie that popped into my head was Magnum Force. He was in a lot of entertaining films so fortunately, he will live on through the art of film.

ETA: I did not realize that most of his work was in TV as I seem to vaguely remember some of his TV stuff but he was such a unique looking actor that his film work sticks out. Adding to my ETA, I should have been clued in that he well known for TV given that this thread was created in the TV section of DVD Talk.

For me, I mostly remember his roles from film, and missed out on a lot of his TV stuff (I did catch some of his guest spots on shows like Bones) because I never latched onto Designing Women and I just learned that he was married to Dixie Carter.

He was one of those actors who had this look that made it easy to recognize him in a role throughout his career (honestly, in my eyes he does not look all that different now than he did when he was in Magnum Force).

Who could forget his role in Into the Wild.

I think he was a doppelganger for Pat Summerall.
