i saw a poll on the best of Alien franchise list in order of worst to best, this came in after Alien 3. i find that hard to believe.
I also can't believe that's Timothy Olyphant. He's unrecognizable with that white hair. he's in everything now. i really like him.

I hope there are facehuggers and xenomorphs in this. And that aliens burst from people's chest.

Hopefully we'll be treated to lots of narrow corridors spewing steam and flashing lights and a cumbersome self-destruct sequence.

To be fair, spacecraft self-destruct sequences should be pretty cumbersome.

Great news. I was worried it might get cancelled, given all the rumours making the rounds.

We were far more focused on getting a second season than creating a top-tier first season. We had all these ideas of where we wanted to go, we cared less about how we got there. We left ourselves several exciting and unexpected directions that we could go in. Now that we have a second season, we need to figure out what story we need to tell. With all of the characters making it to the second season, we will likely just focus on getting a third season so we can tell the entirety of the story that we don't know.
Yet, I am the sucker who will be there.

Hawley has signed a new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television, which includes a second season of Alien: Earth that will debut on FX’s cable channel and Hulu. Production is set to begin next year in London. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter the multi-year deal is valued in the nine figures and will see Hawley broaden his scope to all of Disney Entertainment TV, which also includes ABC and Hulu Originals.
Nine figures? Wowzers.

Alien Earth is like if you took the original movie, realized everything great about it wouldn’t translate to tv, but still made a shitty Sci-Fi show anyways.

I really wanted to like this show and it had some really great moments but it just was a annoying kids in a scary situation show to me and that really made it a slog to get through, Its cool it got renewed for everyone that liked it though

Yes. I went in blind and as soon as it became clear that "kids" were going to be major characters there was a definite "Oh no..." moment for me that proved to be well founded. But I do like the rest of what the show has to offer and the universe well enough that it doesn't ruin it for me, though it definitely suffers from it.

Oh. Same minute.
I thought he meant it was too late for the show already. Which it might be.

The poor alien franchise. Batttered, beaten and run into the ground. Oh well. This show looked good as in visually for a few episodes. Then, the rest happened. Just no.
Enjoy though, if ya liked it.
I’ll stick with Alien and Aliens.

Alien and Aliens are the only really good entries in the franchise, but I liked everything else as well.

My quick take:
- Alien - A masterpiece, one of my personal favorite movies and one of the best movies of all time IMO
- Aliens - A brilliant sequel that amped up the action angle and stands on its own as a truly great film
- Alien 3 - Has some interesting ideas in the Assembly Cut version where you can see how it could have been a worthwhile film in the canon, but ultimately that film won't ever exist
- Alien: Resurrection - I'm a fan of Jeneut but I don't think he was a good fit for the franchise. This plays more like a fever dream Jeneut had about the Alien universe than something that fits well with the other movies.
- Everything else including Alien: Earth - Worse than the theatrical cut of Alien 3 to varying degrees. The expansion of the mythos Scott tried to explore with Prometheus just didn't work and the follow-on films did little to help. Alien: Earth showed some promise to start, but was too unfocused and kind of fell apart for me by the end of the season. (The AvP trash isn't even worth mentioning.)
