I bumped an older thread than this one, but yeah, here you go.
Not sure if these old cast members are genuinely surprised, or totally in on it...

Cool if true, used to leave it on the channel for hours back in the day.

VENN is launching on August 5th with a big lineup and it's getting a lot of buzz.
I wonder how G4 can actually revive itself with this current TV and entertainment landscape.

Chris Gore sent out an email today as a Kickstarter update to Attack of the Doc. He mentioned the G4 revival and said he expects an entirely new crew.

Won't be that hard. I mean, TBS, ESPN and other channels are airing video game competitions and Rocket League and 2K tournaments. Add all the interest in comic book movies, and all the films they can show in reruns. G4 should never have folded. It shows once again the bean counter mentality the idiot executives have at these network conglomerates. If they bring Attack of the Show and some other original programing, they'll have people tune in.

I'll add even Disney XD has video game competitions (Smash Bros and SFV EVo competitions) and at least a couple of shows based on vloggers, Parker Plays and Polaris: Primetime and Polaris: Player Select featuring a bunch of youtube personalities playing video games. They aired Overwatch League matches on ABC, Disney XP, and ESPN. My kids watch it but mainly because I usually don't allow them to watch youtube, otherwise i kind of agree, youtube and twitch already exist.
Heck, I think it's Nick that has a show around Ryan, that kind on youtube who opens toys.

I guess G4 still has some brand awareness with older viewers but this likely reboot doesn't scream great business idea. Half of G4's charm was its low-budget ethos and willingness to color outside the lines of conventional cable television. Sixty percent of its content likely couldn't get aired today without massive backlash from social media.

I just don't see the point. All of the gaming content you could want is already on YouTube. It turns out that regular people can produce this sort of thing better than a cable channel could.

Maybe the G4 shows will just be part of Peacock. I can't see them supporting a full time cable channel unless they fill it with tons of repeats and cheap shows.

Re: Report: G4 As We Know It Is As Good As Gone.
Wasn't the reason G4 shutdown (or got rebranded or whatever) because they didn't know how to work in the then-current TV landscape? I don't see how today's landscape is any better.
What other original content did G4 have? I remember Attack of the Show and X-Play (both of which I never cared for, btw) and a shitload of Cops and Campus PD reruns. For all the love the network got, and still gets, I don't remember a whole lot actually being on it. The network just never seemed that, well, interesting to me (and this is coming from a lifelong comic book reader and gamer).

I am just surprised that Sessler and the gang didn't move their shows over to Youtube.

Wasn't it also G4 that first started airing the edited and dubbed version of the Japanese competition show Sasuke, aka Ninja Warrior? They used to rerun it constantly from what I recall, which also eventually spun off the American Ninja Warrior on NBC.

It was more interesting when it was originally ZDTV/TechTV. Way before youtube, the channel's main programming was about computer reviews, upgrading, and how to repairs. In my opinion, Youtube is the real G4!

Professional Wrestler Xavier Woods, PhD (aka Austin Creed, né Austin Woods) has started a Twitter campaign to host a show on G4:
I have seen him at PAX South these last few years and he’s hilarious and very knowledgeable on video games.
He runs a show (YouTube channel) called UpUpDwnDwn... you should check it out.
I’d watch a show if he hosted it.
