Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) -- Season 8 Thread

That must have been the first episode filmed after George Segal passed, since he wasn't in it at all even though a major plot point was a reference to one of George Segal's best-known roles (Nick in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf).

Even though I know they're fictional characters (although based on Adam F. Goldberg's real life), Brea needs to kick Adam to the curb pronto.

Is this the last season? It should be. I can't stop watching, though.

Ha! I was just thinking after watching the episode that Adam really is an asshole around Brea a lot, and she just keeps forgiving him.

They actually put together a very entertaining season finale! They got back to what a lot of people tuned in for at the very beginning; a plot that mirrored 80s entertainment. In this case the rom-com that's based on a simple misunderstanding.

If they do more shows like this, and less "smother" episodes with Beverly, I'll enjoy season 9 a lot more.

Yeah, it was a good episode, but I'm surprised they didn't have anything at Adam's school. Isn't he supposed to be a senior? I thought they would show him graduating and saying goodbye to the school. Maybe they'll still cover that next season.

Normally it's the timing of 80s events that The Goldbergs plays fast and loose with, but I was impressed with how they got the sun to set on an East Coast beach.

Agree 100%. This was a really good episode. There were a lot of great one-liners that could be easily missed if you're not paying attention. I'll actually watch this one a second time.

I assume the "one-liners" you're referring to are Joanne's rather blatant sexual advances on Barry? If I'm not mistaken, that's the first time jokes of that nature, or even sexuality in general have been addressed on this show.

Murray was throwing one-liners left and right.
