This is quite possibly the most surprising and highly enjoyable new show on any format. I’m giddy watching each and every episode.

5 eps down in 2 nights, basically 1 night as I only saw first ep the other night, but rattling through 4 tonight. I gave up Star Wars: A New Hope for this. So you know that’s pretty serious!

Quite possible and more than likely, the most amazing roughly 7 or so hours of television I have ever seen in my life!
Scintillating, entrancing, mesmerizing, enthralling, enchanting, intense, emotional, heart-pounding.
There are not enough adjectives to describe what this limited series conveys. I was absolutely blown away. On the edge of my seat. Those last 16:26 of "End Game" when Townes gives her the coffee, she gets on the phone and tears then welled in my eyes are some of the finest put to the small screen. They did not stop filling up until I saw those last 16:26 for a second time, right after the first.
What an incredibly superior show than most I have seen in I don't know how long. I am speechless (well, not actually). Had no idea what an impact it would have on me and wow, like my heart went into over drive and then I was calm. Taylor-Joy, the show, the writers, the creators- Scott Frank and Allan Scott to the original book writer- Walter Tevis, simply jaw dropping. If this doesn't sweep every category it can be up for at next year's Emmy's then there is something wrong with Emmy voters. As wrong as the electoral college.
Even if you don't have an inkling of interest in chess, this show needs to be seen because it is just so much more than that. Anya Taylor-Joy makes it so much more than that. So much more indeed. She was a wunderkind not only in portraying the wunderkind she did in the show, but a study in amazing acting.
Everyone, and I mean everyone deserves to at least give it a chance. I am so thankful I did and it was the most worthy 7 hour investment in tv I have ever spent in a 2 day span. I saw the bulk last night and couldn't wait to finish the last 2 eps tonight. Never felt that way about a show before. Never. See it, give it a chance and enjoy it for everything that it encompasses.

I initially skipped right past this series because the title led me to believe that it was about the British royal family . It wasn't till my brother-in-law recommended it to my wife, saying it was actually about chess that I zeroed back and gave it a look. Glad I did -- was hooked after the first 10 minutes.

I’m sure doubtful, but any talk at all of continuing this series?

It's listed as a limited series so I don't think there are plans for more. I would gladly watch a new season though, this was surprisingly compelling.

No, I say leave it alone. One of the reasons it's so good is that it was designed as a limited series.

Agreed that this should be it. It was a complete, and wonderful, story.

My wife and I finished this last night and loved it. Production values were top notch. Cinematography, costume design, acting, music choices, direction - everything was fantastic. The climax of the final episode was somewhat predictable, but still executed really well. This is everything a great miniseries should be.
I have to admit I may have gotten a little misty-eyed when:

I've been watching this over the last couple of weeks and finished today. I really loved it and was purposefully spacing it out because a) I've been busy with work and b) so I could really savor each episode.
Anya Taylor-Joy continues to impress me. Her character was socially pretty reserved and not overly demonstrative, and I appreciate Taylor-Joy's ability to portray her emotions clearly but with some restraint.
The look of the series is terrific. The sets and especially the costuming are a visual treat. I've played chess only a few times and so I know very little about the openings/strategies/etc. I think the writing and direction does a good job of making the story easy to follow and including a fair amount of chess without requiring the viewer to really know anything about the game.
I really wasn't sure which way they were going to go with the ending. I half expected more of a down-note ending, but it obviously went the other way and I'm very glad it did.

I must have read at least 5 articles about the new chess mania, i.e. folks who have started playing chess after watching this. chess.com reported like a 100k increase in members and people around the world giving chess lessons are suddenly getting a lot of work. Kinda makes sense as an activity during a pandemic. Even my nephew said "hey I'll come over this weekend and we can play chess!". I'm like, not you too!

Man, I am fucking awful at that game, but the chess.com app is pretty legit.
