This show is awesome. I loved the ending and the symbolism of what happened. Her journey was amazing and you can see the growth in the character and how intricate the writing was with a satisfying payoff that was truly earned. I hope it continues to get the recognition it deserves.

Man, I am fucking awful at that game, but the chess.com app is pretty legit.
Much like guitar, I sometimes wonder what it would be like to learn chess having something like the internet available. For me, back in the day, a lot of it involved going to my local library and printing out the chess column in The New York Times authored by I.A. Horowitz and then Robert Byrne...

Watched this with my wife out if sheer lack of things to watch. I didn't think I would like it. I was wrong. It was very well done and an interesting story. My wife and I both liked it.

Didn't know the actor playing Harry Beltik was Dudley in Harry Potter films. Thought he look familiar.

Just finished the series. I really liked it. Very entertaining. Thought it was a little weird that it ends like Rocky IV but with girls and Chess.
Didn’t really care for Episode 6 and it's a personal thing for me as I loathe stories where the protagonist ruins his or her life with substance abuse and self-destructive behavior.

One question : How come literally nobody on that show, which takes place in Kentucky, has any sort of a Southern accent? Had nobody in the production ever visited Kentucky?

I'm from the part of Kentucky where the series is set (my father is buried in the same small town where the orphanage is located) and I have a flat/midwestern/newsreader accent.

Spoiler:
Beth mentioned in one of the episodes the only chess player she is afraid of is Borgov. After losing to him a couple of times previously, Beth was finally able to overcome her fears and defeat him in Russia and doing so without the crutch of the pills or alcohol. She transforns into the white Queen in the final episode with the white coat and hat (7 for the # of episodes and the number of spaces a pawn needs to travel to become a queen), free from her fears and able move freely and play chess with a bunch of regular people in a park.

. The entire series was really well structured.

Spoiler:
I think she lost to him in Mexico and also Paris. Beth is
shown to have lost to Mr. Shaibel, Benny once and Borgov twice.

Still haven't finished the show but I saw that they put this in LA's Union Station:

And yes, as the comments point out the board is wrong.

They're already releasing Funko Pops for Beth Harmon.

Beat me to it.

They should have changed the shaping from big circles and it could be a ringer for ATJ.

Really enjoyed this series. I think the last series I enjoyed as much was Breaking Bad.
Liked it more than Marvel movies

Emma Stone was excellent as Harmon
Excellent production sets, especially the last episode and costumes.

Harmon was a bit of a **** at times though. Like when she did not send $10 back to the custodian, or her unfair win over the Russian kid, or ...

How does a chess player forget this.
I think she said if she won, she would send $10?

If she had faculties to be a top chess player, she had enough cells to remember to send $10 to the person who taught her chess and enabled her to enter her first competition.

Yeah the never sent the promised $10 thing bothered me as well. Didn’t feel in character for Beth, especially at that time. I felt like it was written as a joke without thinking it through. Does anyone know if that was in the book?
