Phew, even though I’ve read the comics, Episode 8 was BRUTAL. Glad it’s renewed.

8 was amazing.

This show might be better then The Boys.

This show is fantastic. I might have to pick up the comics now, since the wait for new seasons is going to drive me crazy.

The title card is the same card each episode but with more blood added every time.

Well, he keeps getting fucked up worse every episode. Who is he, Genos?

It's like the opposite of Treme, where the title card got cleaner each season as New Orleans rebuilt after Katrina.

Based on recommendations by my local geek friends, I finally started watching this yesterday. Already on episode 3. Wow, I am impressed. But definitely for HS kids and up….

I just burned through it. Good series, very much close to the comic, stellar performances from both JK Simmons and Steven Yeun. Walter Goggins as Cecil was great as well. Since I read the comic I expected all the gore.

All the money clearly went to the voice cast because it's like DC direct to video quality animation here. They didn't even bother with 4k- it looked like shit on my Shield with AI upscaling to 4k.

Caught up with the last two episodes over the weekend... so... brutal.
I think this might be best series on Amazon. Absolutely phenomenal, and while cliched, I thought that flashback scene with Nolan and Mark and the corresponding scenes afterwards were done really really well.

Absolutely love this show.

It was a solid first season. Some lulls in the middle and I'm not sure the format (eight episodes of 45 minutes) helped the storytelling particularly well. Something like 12 episodes of 30 minutes would have tightened it up.

I also think the "celebrity" voice acting was hit or miss. J.K. Simmons was great as Omni-Man.

Jason Mantzoukas drove me crazy. He was so irritating as Rex, and just felt like a hyperactive TJ Miller (who I've generally been a fan of). Gillian Jacobs seems like she took some time to really click, but I think she was much better during the second half of the season.

It seems like every season will roughly cover one of the "Ultimate Collection" books, with some re-arranged and/or condensed events. Still curious how/when they'll bring in Bulletproof. I think he actually should have joined the Guardians by now, but perhaps they're concerned about the optics of the character? Or maybe he'll join after the fight with the Lizard League? I'm thinking they just straight up cut out Omnipotus, which is pretty fitting for the character.

Isn't Rex supposed to be irritating though? ;)

Yeah, but that voice is so grating...

I love the actor so it didn't bother me that much. Although his voice is so recognizable I had a tough time separating the character from the actor for him. This isn't an issue in a show like Big Mouth where it's easy to picture him as that kid, but here it was a little odd.

We’re not all reading the comics so can we be careful with spoilers from the comics.
Put tags on that stuff if you need to mention things from future books.

Binged this over the weekend with no knowledge of the comics. Enjoyed it from start to finish. This series is like part DC, part Into the Spiderverse, part DBZ, part Persona social interactions, part Berzerk. Now I have to decide if I want to start reading the comics to see what happens next or wait for Season 2.

There's one major story point/cast addition that I don't think season 2 will get to (and one I think it will get to), and then all the other major plot points are in like issues 60 and beyond. That's the point at which you could say it transitions into the "Frieza Saga", if you will.

I was thinking of jumping into the comics as well. Is it worth it, or is the show basically taking all the best comic stuff and condensing it?

It's both condensing and expanding. The Robot subplot was not until the 30s in the comic, but then the climactic fight was basically just mono a mono and only occurs in one issue (I think), but Cecil heavily intervenes in the show and it's over the course of 2-3 episodes.

I'm iffy on the very early storyline, as I usually consider the climactic fight this season to be when the comic "truly" begins.

I would give this a 6/10. I think it was fine, but really sort of dragged and could have been much tighter. Voice acting was great, animation was in the why bother category. Might watch another season if there was nothing else to watch
