Being an American production doesn’t change the fact that the age of consent in France is 15, which is something that wasn’t even enacted until like 2 years ago.

It doesn't make it any less creepy or weird to have it in the show.

I find it funny that people are arguing with me that I think there shouldn't be a plotline about someone in their mid twenties sleeping with a 17 year old that's written for a laugh. I guess I look at it differently living somewhere where the age of consent is 18.....

Exactly. Or to be more specific, you live in a very small area where that's the law. In other states and many other parts of the world, it's not that age. You gotta think bigger picture. The big picture in which this show was written for. Seriously, it takes place in Paris - France. Not in Tennessee.

I live in the US and agree that the age of consent should be 18. It is still a funny and not problematic in the slightest storyline. It would be problematic if there was an abuse of power or knowledge of the age but there wasn't.

It still could have been completely avoided by the American writers just making the character 18. It still would be awkward and weird without some finding it illegal.

I look at it differently, because where I live she would be arrested and most likely have to register as a sex offender even if she didn't know his age and everything was consensual. If the parents found out and wanted to press charges, she would be in a lot of trouble. It's different in Tennessee. I know it's different in Paris and other states, but this show is watched all over the world.

Just know you are very much in the minority here. Like I said before, this show isn't aimed at the Tenn crowd, it's international. If you haven't visited or know much about the cultural differences, then this is something clearly not for you.

It still was written by Americans for an American audience on an American cable network the only foreign thing is the setting, but we obviously don't agree on how serious or not serious statutory rape is. I don't think there's any place for it as a joke on modern television. I think adults having sex with teenagers as a joke plot is concerning and wrong. You all don't agree with me, so I'll drop it. I don't care about the affairs on the show or any of the other stuff.

My wife and daughter like to watch it and goad me into spending time watching it with them as a family thing. This show is pretty silly IMO

Watched the first 4 eps tonight. Light fluffy. With a ton of product placement. The hotel isn’t in st tropez but 2 hours away.

Finished season 2. Another easy watch with great fashion and good locales.
