Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

Yet another guest on this week’s episode.

The Caminoans hired a bounty hunter to retrieve Omega... and they got...
Spoiler:
Cad Bane

This is gonna be interesting.

Oh, and poor Crosshair. I don’t really have any sympathy for his character.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

This show is getting better as it goes in my opinion. Maybe the best episode of the show. Liked seeing Crosshair return again. Curious if he’ll eventually get his inhibitor chip removed and rejoin the Batch or if he’ll stay with the Empire.

He was kind of my least favorite of the team even before his turn anyways so I don’t care, but it is an interesting element having him hunt down his ex-team members.

Spoiler:
Also, I was really stoked to see Cad Bane. Cool character and I sort of felt like he didn’t get a great sendoff in The Clone Wars. Curious who else we’ll see. Wouldn’t mind seeing Asajj Ventress personally.

Spoiler:
So that means Boba Fett has a sister?

Crosshair just has the villain vibe to him. I don't see him being brought back to the good side. Good episode. I like what they are doing with Fennec even if we don't see her again.

Just watched Common Ground (S01E10) and we have an episode that seems to be a one-off story, but could open a whole new chapter.

6 episodes left in the season.

My girlfriend and I just watched episode ten last night. It was pretty good, but felt like a filler episode compared with the other episodes in the season. Still liked it though.

I liked seeing the Empire come in to occupy a planet. That was cool. at Omega eating the Outpost Mix popcorn from Galaxy's Edge.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

Today's new episode was a cool twist on how to "follow" the Bad Batch while expanding and connecting the universe. I've been making my way through Rebels for the first time over the last few weeks in the background and literally just watched the "Homecoming" episode last night by coincidence (about 2/3 of the way through season 2 and I'm enjoying it) and this was fun since I'm in the middle of all of that.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

Glad The Bad Batch got a break this episode (“Devil’s Deal” S01E11) and we got see how the other side lives (I’m talking about Crosshair and his shenanigans).
Spoiler:
Seeing Hera’s backstory and her parents involvement in freeing Ryloth from the Empire was great.

And I miss Chopper (C1-10P)… he’s always there to make you smile.

Can’t wait to see where this takes us.

Spoiler:
I was thrown a little by young Hera's accent, because I didn't remember her having one in Rebels, but I found some discussion about it and I guess during Rebels when she went back home she slipped back into her native accent.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

Good episode. Liked that it was a sidebar episode and that the Batch were only in it briefly. Curious what the Empire is doing on that planet. Maybe mining supplies for the Death Star or something?

One thing I thought was kind of interesting was that Clone Trooper seemed to somewhat question his orders. So some of the Clones still seem to have a conscience and aren’t just mindless drones for the Empire.

Spoiler:
Also, haven’t watched Rebels yet, but I knew I recognized Chopper. Didn’t realize that Hera is a character from that show. Probably will start that show after this season is over.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

I'd read in another thread Disney+ is moving to Wednesdays for premieres, is that the case for The Bad Batch, too? I'm surprised to see episode #13 isn't up yet today. That said, I can't remember when they usually go up on Fridays. ...It is Friday, right? This blasted pandemic...

This week should be the twelfth episode actually.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

Oh, funny. I saw the thumbnail for episode #12 featuring Hera and figured that was last week's episode.

My Disney+ platform doesn't remember where I am often. It's telling me I can play the latest I haven't watched, episode #11, which isn't true because I've watched it. It will also stop after a few episodes of Rebels, make it impossible to find without going into search, and then say the last episode I watched was even further back than the batch that just got interrupted. I've wondered if some sort of "premiere date" listing per episode when a new series debuts would help.

I'll take my lumps for getting this wrong, and Disney+ isn't making it easy.

I watched through the first 8 episodes and I'm done. Not terrible just completely uninteresting. I haven't been able to get into any of these Star Wars animated shows.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

I would say that The Bad Batch is watchable on its own, but for a more full experience it’s probably better to have watched The Clone Wars first. If not I can see where a person may not like it as much.

Not that the characters are in The Clone Wars much at all, but there are certain things that this show calls back to, and certain things were set into motion on that show. Also you get a more full realization of the Clones as characters, and to me it’s interesting that they all have personalities versus being mindless drones.

I watched the first 2 seasons of The Clone Wars and couldn't get into it either. Like I said not terrible just completely generic in every way and I have enough shows I want to watch I'm not going to force myself to keep watching through it. I loved the first two seasons of The Mandalorian and figured I would give Bad Batch a chance but it's not for me.

I will say that The Clone Wars takes time to get good. The first season is rocky. Season two is better, but the show is still going through growing pains. I think it hits its stride later in season three and beyond.

I can’t get into any of the animated shows either. They are just a wee bit too kid-focused and my son doesn’t care about Star Wars so…

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

Not a ton to say about the last episode really. The main thing that I still found interesting that carried over from episode eleven is the Clone Captain who didn’t want to go along with his orders. Curious if his inhibitor chip isn’t working properly, and how many other Clones have defective inhibitor chips.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

My take is this series is a bridge to show how...
Spoiler:
we see the end of the clones and the rise of the volunteer Stormtroopers. The clones had training but also conditioning and the control chips. As some of that changes for them, wither because it gets faulty or the Empire's methods go against their training, they start to, well, rebel. The volunteer Stormtroopers believe in the cause and are more susceptible to following unethical orders. Wouldn't be surprised if many clones are exterminated before the end of the show.

And that last episode really pits that on display.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

... and we're back to a "story of the week" episode in S1E13's Infested. We meet a few new characters... but I'm curious as to who this person is (and I don't know why they stuck out but they did)...
Spoiler:

... who do you think the guy behind the pillar is (if he's of any consequence at all)?

But he was watching them as they walked past).

Here's a close up with the levels changed:

Three more episodes left.

Re: Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+) - premieres 5/4/2021

Great cliffhanger setup for the final two episodes today. I've never watched a Star Wars animated show before, at least during a weekly premiere, and I'm having fun. I caught some of the early Clone Wars but I never had cable and I didn't get around to it on Netflix. I'm liking this show.
