This article covers some of it, but it seems like following up on what's happened to several of the people since the first season could be material:

And the Lowes had to give up the park and the animals:

In a phone call with Variety on Thursday afternoon, Baskin said she knew that “Tiger King” directors Rebecca Chaiklin and Eric Goode were filming more content, but she didn’t expect it to be finished so soon... After the original “Tiger King” debuted, she said that the directors tried to “clear the air” with her, but she told them to “lose my number because that was not at all what we had agreed we were working on.
“I wouldn’t call Eric Goode or Rebecca Chaiklin true documentarians. I mean that was just a reality show dumpster fire,” she said of “Tiger King.”..
“If people want to know the actual truth behind the big cat crisis in the U.S. and how it all started, they should be demanding to see ‘The Conservation Game’ film by Michael Webber,” Baskin said in an emailed statement to Variety.

I’m not sure what else a sequel series can really cover either. I mean maybe some follow-up, but I would think the majority of the story has been told already. Plus there already was that after show deal too.
I wonder how much more can be squeezed out and how many episodes will be in the sequel series:

I'm frankly embarrassed I even watched the first one, so I'll pass on redneck celebration part 2.

I'm not really feeling inspired to watch Part 2. I think Part 1 was very "flash in the pan," in that it came out at almost exactly the right time, when many people were stuck at home and desperate for a distraction. Plus, a big part of the appeal of the first one was the gradual peeling back the layers of the story, and just how many crazy characters and situations there were, going back over a decade. Now that I know everyone and everything that happened, a follow-up "where are they now?" a year and a half later doesn't appeal, especially since the major events that have happened since then have been in the national news.

I've watched the first 3 episodes and I really can't decided if Carole and crew are genius' or simply so dumb that they can't be figured out. Is her husband just living off the grid in Costa Rica or was he tiger food when she was out wandering the streets at 3am?

My understanding is that the Baskins didn't shoot anything new with the Tiger King crew for season 2, and even sued to stop season 2 from using archival footage.

She did participate in the documentary Louis Theroux: Shooting Joe Exotic

The reality star wants the court to force Netflix to erase any footage of her in the promo materials, teasers and trailers. She claims in her lawsuit that the show’s reels are actually just unused film that didn’t make it into the final cut of the original series. She also alleges that producers are recutting old footage to make it seem like she’s giving new interviews.

There were a couple of other "unsynchronized" events I caught along the way, but I don't recall what they were.
I feel dirty for watching this ... again.

The second episode of Season 2 that revolves almost exclusively around Don Lewis is worth a view - it could be a standalone documentary on its own. The rest of the new season? Meh.

Finished up the second season and while it took till episode 3 to figure out where it was going it was an interesting enough follow up. It's clear all these people are pieces of shit, but what blows me away is, the potential husband murder aside, Carole is doing the same shit as the others and everyone seems to just turn a blind eye. My personal thought is if she actually cared about the animals she would run a santuary like was shown at the end of the series, not a glorfiied zoo manned by unpaid volunteers.

I'm not sure why she gets a pass for her zoo while the other are vilified.
