The Most-Watched Show in America Is a Moral Failure
Carole Fuckin' Baskin is apparently writing for The Atlantic now. There are no heroes in Tiger King. Not Joseph “Joe Exotic” Maldonado-Passage, whose stripy mullet you’ve surely seen on social media, accompanied by a teal sequined jacket so ostentatious that the adult tiger he’s posing with looks like an afterthought. Not Bhagavan “Doc” Antle, who, one former employee alleges, coerces teenage girls working 100-hour weeks at his ranch to reach “his level of enlightenment” by sleeping with him. Not Carole Baskin, the owner of a Florida sanctuary for big cats, who Tiger King insinuates—in a strikingly unjournalistic way—might have killed her husband. And definitely not Eric Goode, the New York hotelier and animal-rights activist who co-directed the series, whose elevator pitch for it seems to have been “What if Christopher Guest, but real?” and whose disdain for the dentally challenged and leopard-print-festooned characters he captures is Tiger King’s most discernible emotion. |

Enjoyed the hell out of it. Crazy story. It definitely could have been 5or 6 eps, but it was still entertaining as hell. Basically everyone involved should be locked up to some extent.

I like Joel McHale, but damn he'll do anything for a paycheck.

I liked E8. It's interesting to see how many of the participants felt how they came across and what they're doing now.

I wish Baskins was interviewed, but it's obvious why she probably turned it down.
I think this really shows that Exotic is way worse than people here thought, and I'm glad it showed how shitty he really was from the people who were closest to him. Now maybe the internet can get rid of their weird hard-on of hate for Baskins exclusively, who even if she killed her husband doesn't seem as bad as the rest of them. Also, I'm not defending her. I think all of the owners are terrible people. |

A huge issue I have with CB's so-called "animal sanctuary" is that she's making as much money (if not more $) off of these animals as the "private zoos" run by people like JE & DA. So, I see 0 difference between her & the people she's claiming are exploiting the animals - which is EXACTLY what she's doing as well. https://www.outsideonline.com/241141...g-cat-industry |

Well with the documentary you're provided with a one-way view of her. This article gives a little more definition to the differences between what she does and the others.

That story told about that woman bringing her horse to Joe Exotic thinking he would give it a good home and how he proceeded to shoot it after she left and used it as meat for the tigers was sad. What a piece of shit.

I want to know more about the behind the scenes and how this documentary got made. How did they get so much footage of key events? They even got footage of Joe moving his tigers in the middle of the night and then interviewed him while he was on the run? At first I thought it was footage from Kirkman's documentary but that all went up in flames. So how did they get all this footage? Did was Joe really filming himself this whole time? But it didn't seem like it because you could tell the difference in quality between his footage and the documentary's footage. If that's the case then the people that made Tiger King had the biggest break of all time that they happened to be following Joe while this whole murder for hire plot was going down with his subsequent arrest and trail? And then in addition to that the doc happens to get released as all of America is sitting at home with nothing else to do but watch this insane story? I mean that's just crazy lucky.
Also why would you willingly let someone film all of that illegal activity for a doc? I guess he was just that obsessed. But also if you're filming a doc and then your main subject talks about hiring someone to kill someone don't you have to report that to the police? |

I don't know how anyone can honest say that Carole did not play some role in her husband's disappearance. 1) The restraining order, which other people in romantic relationships have filed against her; 2) the POA letter which references disappearance (those NEVER use that language); 3) the fact that POA was PREPARED by Baskins...even though Don had a lawyer; 4) the differences in the handwriting b/w the restraining order and POA letter; 5) there is no evidence I can find that she ever made any real effort to find him, offer a reward for information, ANYTHING that a wife would do when her husband goes up and missing out of the blue; 6) he would go to CR when Carole was on her period to fool around with other women; and 7) she has never sued anyone for slander or libel for claiming outright that she killed her husband and fed him to the cats. She is EXTREMELY litigious, you mean to tell me that if she was innocent she would fear having to testify under oath about her involvement or respond to discovery about it? Come on. This is all enough to convince me she was involved in his disappearance, and I personally believe she killed the guy,

Whoever investigated the first time did a piss poor job investigating Carole. There have been convictions for less I would bet.

That theory relies on a single piece of information that I have not heard confirmation or denial of ... I know they said he flew without a license (and thus did not file flight plans) and owned multiple planes ... but was one missing?
The lawyer said his theory was somebody threw him out of a plane ... hence I tend to think there was no plane missing. |

Federal judge awards Carole Baskin control over 'Joe Exotic’s' former zoo
OKLAHOMA CITY —A federal judge on Monday granted control over “Joe Exotic’s” former zoo in Wynnewood to Carole Baskin, an animal rights activist whose feud with the former zoo owner was documented on a popular Netflix show. Court documents show that Joseph Maldonado-Passage fraudulently transferred zoo ownership to his mother to avoid creditors. Maldonado-Passage was convicted in April 2019 of conspiring to kill Baskin in Florida, along with killing five tigers, and selling and offering to sell tiger cubs. Maldonado-Passage, who is better known as “Joe Exotic,” was sentenced to serve 22 years in federal prison. The feud between Maldonado-Passage and Baskin was featured earlier this year on the hit docuseries “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.” The court ruling also ruled that the Greater Wynnewood Development Group has 120 days to leave the zoo premises. All of the animals at the zoo must also be removed from the area. "After spending $2.5 million to secure a million-dollar judgement against Joe, we feel that her securing this land is the appropriate outcome," Jeff Lowe told sister station KOCO 5. "And that allows us sufficient time to open up Tiger King Park in Thackerville, behind the WinStar Casino." |
