I heard/read in an interview somewhere that even though Picard and 7 of 9 have never appeared on screen together, they are aware of each other and know each other's histories.

I would assume that both of them being tied to The Collective share some experiences.

I am intrigued though.

Found it:

interesting theory but what we have seen so far does not support it.

Did you watch Voyager? Because....

Ok, a bit slow but so much Romulan culture and lore dumping I don’t care. Awesome to see an old style BoP in action and of course Her at the end.

And that’s an interesting hologram theory up there. Kinda reminds me of another story about a guy hunting synths and he starts to wonder about his own humanity....

I totally felt like I was watching a computer RPG being played. Kid has an elf sounding name, looks like an elf (beyond the expected Romulan ears, his hair reminds me of LOTR elf haircuts), his whole "bind my sword to you"

I honestly always felt like the Trek races had similarities to fantasy races anyway, particularly the Tolkien/Forgotten Realms/Dragonlance stuff.
Vulcans = Elves
Romulans = Dark Elves/Drow
Klingons = Dwarves (although the Discovery version were more like orcs)
Q Continuum = Wizards or Gods
Ferengi = Kender (Dragonlance)

Probably more if I thought about it, but this is just off the top of my head.

Edit: this may be more of a stretch, but:
Borg = Sauron
Borg queens = Nazgul
