That is who Bryan Fuller wanted to cast as Clarice, if he was able to do SotL on Hannibal.

Is this set back in the 90s after the original Silence or did they time jump the events to present day?

I haven’t watched yet.

1993. One year after the events of SotL.

Re: Clarice (CBS) - The Silence of the Lambs sequel series - premieres 2/11/21

I watched it last night and I thought it was decent. Breeds doesn't have the presence and gravitas of Jodie Foster, but for someone who's pretty much unknown here, she handled the part pretty well. I also thought she got the accent down pretty good.

I did catch that vague reference to Hannibal without having to say his name. I agree with everyone that Kal Penn seemed wasted. He felt like just a background actor with no significance. I hope there's a little more to him than just a a few lines each episode.

I wish they would have filmed this in the style of Hannibal. I thought the filming style was a little too bright and very reminiscent of most CBS procedurals.

Overall, maybe a B-/C+ from me. I'll keep tuning in.

Better than I expected. My wife was into it and complained that there weren't more eps after then I reminded here it just started. We are in for this.

oddly enough, I had just watched SotL earlier in the day on Pluto TV not knowing I was going to be watching Clarice later that night. That helped me get into it especially when they referenced Buffalo Bill and other the events surrounding him. I thought it was good that they connected things like that.

Is this going to be a weekly serial killer procedural or more of a character driven story based on Clarice?

It's been a decade+ since I've seen SotL so I may have missed a reference or two but I enjoyed the first episode.

I thought it sounded like Clarice was going to stay focus on...
Spoiler:
this one case due to the fact that, though she killed the murderer... there seems to be someone who was paying the assassin to take these people out. So the case isn't finished. Could there be more murders even though she killed this assassin? I took that as this case would be the focus for the season. But I could be wrong.

But then again killer of the week does kind of sound more exciting?

The way the first episode set things up, it appears both. Clarice is still suffering from aspects of PTSD from the movie and I think it's going to focus on her character overcoming that in addition to her working with Krendler's team.

Thanks. If it ends up being simply a "case of the week" with her constantly at odds with the more experienced agents, I'll probably drop it eventually. I hope this first season can set a good tone/pace so it sticks around.

I mean I think CBS shows can balance both well. I mean you watch SWAT and while it's an action procedural, it's very character driven with the SWAT team and they aren't just cardboard cookie cutter Cop characters. That's one of the reasons why I enjoy it other than the action.

Krendler was the guy brought in to take over the case from Clarice and Jack after they made that fake deal with Hannibal if I remember right.

Yeah, that's what I meant by my hope it sticks around comment. Shows like SWAT take a season or two to develop into something where we care about the characters more than the case of the week. I'm one of the biggest fans of the original Law and Order but it's an example of the other direction. It was on for 20 years and very rarely got into the lives of the cast members outside of anything that related to the case.

Re: Clarice (CBS) - The Silence of the Lambs sequel series - premieres 2/11/21

I just watched this week's episode last night. I would say it was on par with the 1st one. It was also completely self contained. It dealt with a Waco type incident in Tennessee that later had a secret prostitution ring behind it. I did appreciate a little more development with Clarice. She gained more confidence in this episode and wasn't as mousy and also gained some respect from Krendler.

Is Clarice having siblings a retcon? Was that something mentioned in the books?

Didn't care for this case much. Just kind of dull.

WTF is Kal Penn doing on this show? Was his character changed at some point during development?

If every week is a new case with Clarice going against the other FBI agents to do her own thing, I'm probably going to bail as well.

Re: Clarice (CBS) - The Silence of the Lambs sequel series - premieres 2/11/21

I liked the last two episodes, with Clarice's unit under investigation in the most recent one. I like the actress playing the nurse, Natalie Brown--she's been in a lot of genre tv shows (The Strain, Dark Matter). She reminds me a little of Sean Young. And David Hewlett (Stargate: Atlantis) has a guest role as well.

In this most recent episode, as soon as they revealed
Spoiler:
that the nurse and her sister were twins, it was easy to predict the final twist. When Clarice discovered the other twin in the bed, I was shouting, "Don't turn your back to the room! Turn around, she's going to come up behind you!"

These two episodes have set up a larger story arc that can play out over the season while they can still have stand-alone investigations.

I think this last episode hinted that Penn's character may not be on the up-and-up. I expect there will be some big reveal with him later.

Well, this episode brought Clarice a little closer together with her team, but it did pit her against some other FBI agents, including her roommate.

Re: Clarice (CBS) - The Silence of the Lambs sequel series - premieres 2/11/21

Yeah, I also liked the last two episodes.

I also just had my eyes opened that Krendler is Abraham from TWD, and Clarice is Ruby from Home and Away, which I watched briefly for a couple of seasons, mainly due to the eye candy. I thought she looked familiar, but must've been thrown by her accent, as I had only heard her native Australian accent.

Cellar Door, I agree that that reveal made the twist pretty obvious. Being slow to the catch on was a bit out of character for Clarice.

I noticed that as well. Curious where it's leading.
