On episode 7. Badass.

On a tangent, there was a scene where a character was eating some stew and is asked if they would like some mustard in it. I did not know you put mustard in a stew. Shit, I love both, but never knew thy went together. Sounds delicious.

Noticed that too. Might depend on the meat used in the stew.

In a lot of ways maybe the best season of the show. Just riveting. I hope they are allowed to do the full five year arc they have planned.

Finished it in less than 24 hours. Great show. Laura Linney and Julia Garner steal the show.

Just wrapped it. I thought the entire season was a misfire. Julia had her moments for sure and I get that it’s important to try new things but nothing worked imho. Very surprised by the quality drop on this one.

Re: Ozark (Netflix) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 3/27/20

starseed is the Armond White of DVDTalk. Didn't like this season of Ozark, most people did. Doesn't like Westworld's current season, most do.

I get the feeling if I browsed back through the threads of GoT's last couple seasons, I'd see starseed praising it

Anyway, finished the season tonight. Hell of a final episode. Bateman and Linney were terrific this season. Ben was a frustrating character, but had to be in order to be the catalyst that moved the story along. The Wyatt/Darlene relationship is just weird, can't get past it. That said, I'm interested in seeing how the Snell heroin business reestablishes itself.

Interesting take. I thought the season was two episodes too long and bloated. I didn’t like anything involving Ben or Wyatt/Old Lady Snell. I found Wendy to be endlessly frustrating this year. And I really don’t think a drug lord would take his cues from a soccer mom. But those are just my thoughts.

I've started doing this on my chili a lot. I think it started for me from when I would have a chili dog which I would put mustard on. I got to where I liked the mustard tang and so I'll often add it on.

Overall it was a good season but my complaints align with yours. I told my wife that I really wish that Jacob Snell had been the one that was still around. I thought that guy was a great character and he felt more fearsome than just the crazy lady that is Old Lady Snell.

I actually thought Jonah and Charlotte were so much better this season. Marty was solid. Wendy and Ruby I found to be inconsistent and carrying on or making decisions that seemed to conflict with the strong, intelligent nature of their characters that had been developed.

I realize it's all subjective but I certainly wouldn't agree.

Deadwood
Mad Men
Better Call Saul
Boardwalk Empire
True Detective (even accounting for a weak 2nd season)

I'd put it more in Sons of Anarchy, Justified, Handmaid's Tale, Yellowstone level. Any show that requires that level of temporary suspension of disbelief.

The stuff with the therapist and Marty's reaction to her purchase was fucking hysterical!

Well not really.

I stopped posting in this sub forum years ago because of this exact issue. Few here want to talk about shows.

Re: Ozark (Netflix) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 3/27/20

From season one I figured the would end with
Spoiler:
Bateman and Linney's on or off screen death still might happen. But Helen's death was clearly telegraphed and no surprise at all.

Great season thought and Ruth is still the best character on this show. The acting is incredible and the tension was almost uncomfortable at times. Looking forward to where it goes next or if it ends here
Spoiler:
they are owned for life and fucked

I am good with that too.

It feels like this has two more seasons in it.

I’d expect to hear of a Season 4 renewal soon.

It is hard to know with Netflix since most peter out at 3.

Very true for most. This one, thankfully, has acclaim and award recognition. That should help keep it on as long as the creator intends.

Good season.

The minute the brother showed up, it was obvious what was going to happen. I really found the character and his addition to the story line annoying.
The ending was also obvious.
Ruth's an idiot - you would figure after all that's happened, she would really get what's going on and who to side with and who not to.

The brother and Ruth were very much writer's devices this season. Especially the brother. I get that they made him bipolar but for him to have those blowups and do exactly the worst possible things to jeopardize the family: give me a fucking break. And Ruth (and pretty much every character on the show) regressing back to "Marty and his wife are bad guys" when Marty and Wendy are plainly and obviously just trying not to get their family killed by the cartel is just such sloppy writing.

Still loved the drama and especially tension of the season and acting but writing could've had the same outcomes without being so clumsy.

The thing with the brother, I initially thought he was going to be brought onboard as a sort of "enforcer" because he was so fucking unhinged, but he was ultimately a pest.

I'll be damned. I like both of those, as well.
