This has been rumored for weeks. Gunn didn't seem to want to comment too much on it so that was pretty much everything you needed to know about the delay.

11 seconds of footage from HBO’s sizzle reel for 2026

I thought it looks pretty good. It's interesting seeing Kyle Chandler play an anti-hero.

I like the trailer, but it seems like it should be its own thing? Seems like a sort of needlessly R-rated version of the famous Green Lantern/Green Arrow run, with John Stewart instead of Oliver Queen.

One of them is a fucking squirrel

That was a good teaser. It has kind of a western vibe.

Looks good. Has a Yellowstone/True Detective vibe.

It doesn’t really look like a show based on Green Lantern. Doesn’t look bad for a detective/crime type show though.

I had not heard about this.

Kyle Chandler seems great as an older Hal Jordan.

I can't say I liked that at all. Didn't like the dynamic between Hal and John. Didn't like seeing Hal behaving like Temu Sinestro. Didn't like that it's on Earth. 10 gives 20 that they don't suit up until the last episode or two, and Hal bites it by season's end.

Yeah seems kind of "small" for a show about intergalactic superheroes... But I liked the look of the trailer overall.

I was hoping to see Guy in the trailer. I noticed that Hal said he was the only human Green Lantern, so this either takes place before Guy got the ring, or Hal doesn't know about him yet.

I am 99.999% certain Hal dies at the end of this show, so... Maybe Guy appears in the season/series finale, getting his ring after Hal's demise?

Man if they kill Hal off at the end of this that character is just cursed in media.

The warning signs are all there. Although I like Kyle Chandler, he's 60. Yes, he normally does not look his age, but in this show they are clearly going for something akin to a disheveled hobo look. There's also his clearly jaded, antagonistic personality (including a comment where he says he'd rather die than let John Stewart take over). Add a scraggly beard and he is essentially Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi.

I thought it was terrible. If there hadn't been a (stupidly dull) ring or lantern you wouldn't even know it was a show about Green Lanterns. I can also see why they dropped the green. Looks more like Yellowstone than Green Lantern. It's also unnecessarily MA rated. Oh lets drop a couple of F-bombs so the kids think we're cool. This isn't Peacemaker, Punisher or Deadpool or even Batman. I don't think there's any reason to make this an R rated western. It's just not the right tone. Green Lantern should be fun, imaginative, fantastical.

But these are just my opinions based on a short trailer. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong. But I'm not holding my breath.

I think maybe we were too hard on Ryan Reynolds.

Is there anything with James Gunn's involvement that hasn't been more light in tone and imaginative?

Was this developed under Gunn or before he was onboard? And I fully realize and stated that I'm making rash judgements on a short trailer. But still, what I saw didn't show anything imaginative and an MA rated True Detective wanna be doesn't exactly say light in tone.

Kyle Chandler feels like the new Sean Bean. Every time I see him pop up in something I expect him to die.

I hope for something as important to the mythos as Green Lanterns that this is part of Gunn's vision and not separate from it.

It was developed under Gunn, but not by him and the showrunner is mostly known for dark shows like True Detective, Ozark or Criminal Minds, so I can see, why you're suspicious, but it's still a show under Gunn's wing. So I guess it won't be Guardians of the Galaxy and more like Peacemaker, but I wouldn't expect a gritty crime show. It's still DCU under Gunn and not Matt Reeves.
