Watched till ep 5 and so far so good. The plot twists and backstories were interesting. Can't wait for the next ep.

This season has been solid. A definite step up from Cult & Apocalypse. Hopefully this continues into the seasons final act.

It's my favorite since Hotel, but I'm concerned that the new Satanic direction the story is taking is going to push the 80s/summer camp/slasher vibe out the window.

I knew there was something familiar about the look he was going for, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Yeah, Rodney Bingenheimer. Makes sense now.

Well we've made it to episode 7 and it still doesn't suck so that's something. I like that they're keeping things moving at a brisk pace and not going off the rails each time a new character or twist is added.

It's only 9 episodes this season? That's cool, the first couple seasons were great until 10 - 13

That's fine. If it eliminates filler, I'm all for shorter seasons.

That was a fantastic ending IMHO. Very refreshing to get a happy ending (get your minds out of the gutter haha). Seriously though, definitely one of the better seasons. I'll be back for season 10 for sure.

This season was a real return to form and I hope they keep it up for next season. I spent October watching a bunch of classic 70s and 80s slashers so the theme of this season fit right in. Sure it was a bit light on any actual scares but you can't complain about the gore levels after last night.

Wow, it only took 8 years and cutting the episode count by 4 episodes for them to do another consistently good season.
Emma Roberts looked so good this season.

Some Season 10 news:
American Horror Story‘s next death could be its own. In the wake of Tuesday’s AHS: 1984 climax (read our recap), franchise overlord Ryan Murphy says he’s already “working on an idea” for the 10th and potentially final season of the FX juggernaut.
In an interview with our sister site Deadline, the series’ co-creator and EP reveals that fans “will love [Season 10] because it’s about reuniting fan-favorite actors… because it might be our last season. It’s the last season we have contracted [at FX]. So, I’ve been quietly reaching out to various people. Some people I haven’t reached out to yet because I was like ‘Do I have a role for them?’ So far, everybody I reached out to said ‘Yes’, so that’s been great.”
Murphy teases that the cast members he has invited to participate in Season 10 “helped build this show into what it is, who believed in it from the beginning,” adding, “If you look at the iconography of the first three seasons, you can figure who I’ve gone to and who might be coming back.”
Meanwhile, Murphy — who recently moved his empire from FX parent 20th Century Fox to Netflix — is not completely closing the door to continuing the franchise into an 11th season and beyond. “[FX Chairman] John Landgraf has always been incredibly honorable about American Horror Story and he would obviously like to keep it going, and I’d like to keep it going,” he tells Deadline. “We’re in the middle of negotiations about beyond season 10. We have had conversations about the show going 20 seasons.”
Should FX opt against ordering an 11th season, Murphy says he would absolutely “call up” his current bosses at Netflix to gauge their interest in acquiring the franchise. But he quickly adds that Landgraf has “only ever expressed love and enthusiasm” for the show.
“I have every good intention of it staying there and I think he does too,” Murphy concludes. “We’re talking about it. We’re trying to figure it out.”

I liked this season, weren't any real mega twists and it did feel a bit drawn out. Killings lost their lustre when everyone became ghosts
Was half expecting Bobby jnr to be killed in the last minute of the show

Finished watching it last weekend and gotta say that this season definitely didn't disappoint.
Been a fan of Emma Roberts since her days as Addie Singer in Unfabulous and so far have been loving al the roles she's played.
Though, out of all the roles she's played in AHS, loved her role as Madison in Coven. Even have a print out of the season on my bedroom wall.

American Horror Story has many more chapters to unfold: FX on Thursday announced that it has renewed the Ryan Murphy-produced anthology series for Seasons 11, 12 and 13.
Somewhat of a big deal considering Ryan Murphy is over at Netflix now. FX wants to stay in the Murphy business as long as they can I guess.

The music in AHS: 1984 really helped set the tone for me. The season was good, but the music was perfect and really helped up the atmosphere.

Not super surprising, it's one of FX's staple series and 1984 was a nice rebound for it. Plus Disney probably wants more content for FX on Hulu.

Sure, why not? I didn't like Roanoke, and absolutely despised Cult and Apocalypse, but as already mentioned 1984 was a good comeback. Petered out at the end, but all the scenes that took place in 1984 were fantastic. Once they jumped to 89 and further, it was less interesting. Still, it's enjoyable enough that I'll tune in for at least one more year. And even if it sucks, I'll give it another go the year after that.

I just finished watching this last night and I was really impressed with the uniqueness of the story, the likability of the characters, time shifts, period music, etc. The pace was perfect - I wanted more, and the ending was really well done.
I also watched Apocalypse (yourubetv had this under the AHS 1984 recording as well) - so when I went to watch 1984 I was wondering why there were witches etc.. thinking ok maybe this is setting up a huge flashback. Then a few episodes in I realized that this was the previous season, and I honestly liked this one too. I had a feeling that this was tying in previous seasons. I remember the characters from Universal Studios Haloween Horror Nights houses, and I started to watch season 1 but lost interest (but we did recognize the house and the characters).
Overall this is defiantly worth a watch

I was really behind on this show. I stopped after Hotel. Over the last month I've caught up with the 4 seasons I hadn't watched. Roanoke is probably the worst season of the 9, Cult was OK, Apocalypse was fun, and 1984 was fun too (man the guy they cast as Richard Ramirez was money).
I'd rank the seasons as follows, from best to worst:
1. Asylum
2. Murder House
3. Hotel
4. Apocalypse
5. 1984
6. Cult
7. Coven
8. Freakshow
9. Roanoke
