Strong first episode... will finish this up over the weekend. I love how straight Ritchson is playing this. Doesn't really get worked up, but goes to work when he has to. Lots of smart dialog that comes at a quick pace. The prison cell scene was awesome as well as the shower fight. Certainly different than his Hank/Hawk character from Titans.

He kind of comes across as very slightly on the spectrum to me.

I laughed at his stare down of the guy who was being abusive in the 1st episode and the guy apologized for having a bad day.

At that height the only pants you can buy in a store are going to be floods. In that regard Tom Cruise made more sense since he could just shop in the kids section at Walmart.
Hollywood entertainment rarely has shredded 6'5" guys running around anymore - that is strictly the realm of WWE these days. So for 2022, it stands out. Back in the 1980s or 1990s, a chiseled big guy probably wouldn't have drawn as much attention since every other action movie was filled with them.

Ritchson clarifies that he's about 6 foot 3 and about 235. As I posted earlier, he put on the extra 30 pounds for this role.

Going to check this out. I really liked the first Jack Reacher movie, not sure I ever finished the second one .

I was more poking fun at Lee Child since he never misses a chance in his books to let you know that Jack Reacher is a mountain of a man. After all the blowback the Tom Cruise casting for the movie got I'm not surprised they went with a swole guy this time around.

Watched the first 3 episodes and loved it. Just the alpha male shit I need now that Ray Donovan is over.

Young Scully isn't the strongest actor - from the uh acting sense - but he is about perfect for this role.

Fun show. What came off as corny and forced in the movies comes off perfectly here.

Also, after marathoning Gemstones, I'm glad about this shows lack of penises.

Edit: Oh there the penises.

I am pretty sure they wrote the character this way, not that Ritchson is a bad actor. He was pretty good on Titans.

There are definitely some autistic vibes. No idea if Childs says that about Reacher in the books though.

So far so good.

It is a little like having Sheldon from BBT as a 6'5" brick shit house at times.

This show gets more ridiculous as it goes but I kinda love it

Let me take this Bentley and go talk to cows, oh shit a spur bro, let's go intimidate these bro dudes. I love how many people he beats up with his forearm.

This is all just thoroughly entertaining.

Loved episode 1. Was laughing throughout. I never saw the Cruise films, so nothing to compare against.

Re: Reacher (Amazon) - based on the Lee Child novels - S: Alan Ritchson - premieres 2/4/22

I'm through 2 episodes now. Nice to see Kristin Kreuk in this. A little weird hearing her speak with the southern accent.

You could see in episode 2 that Reacher and Roscoe were developing some chemistry. It's been awhile since I've seen Willa Fitzgerald since Scream the series and she's pretty good here.

Reacher breaking the hands/wrists of those guys and leaving one to take them to the hospital.

I guess the gist of this story is from one of Child's books and deals with this small town murder mystery and conspiracy. I did watch the episode late and I probably missed it, but when did they reveal the murder victim that Reacher was arrested for was his brother? That just flew past me when I later heard it mentioned.

There is a scene at the morgue where he discovers it’s brother.

Yeah, this season is based on the first Reacher book from Lee Child, called "Killing Floor." I read it probably 20 years ago so I only have vague memories of the plot. I'm about halfway through the season, but I don't recall exactly what will happen next, so I'm enjoying the show without comparing it too directly with the novel.

One thing with the novels is that there are a few prequel novels published after the first few that tell stories about Reacher back when he was still in the army. It would be interesting if the show adapts one of those.

Episode 7 title: "Reacher Said Nothing" - nice little nod to fans of the books

Episode 3 when Reacher beat up the big guy in the bar and then he was willing to answer all questions.

and that was badass when he shot the 2 guys pursuing him in the back. No questions asked.

I’m 6 episodes in. Never dreamed I would watch the whole season but it’s pretty good. Although I must admit I’m only watching to see Jack Reacher beat the hell out of people.

This is what I imagine an R-rated CBS show on weeknight would be like. Feels like a poor man’s version of the really good streaming or HBO shows.

Yes. Yes, it is.

The average American man is 5' 10" - and there are a ton of guys shorter than 5' 10", so, yes, 6' 5" is freakishly big. (6 feet tall is above average, add another 5 inches to that and you become a giant.)

Freak.

Almost done with episode 2, completely sold and will likely finish the season in the next couple days. Great casting, personally.

It took me a minute to recognize that the kid playing young Reacher is the actor who played Will Robinson on Netflix's Lost in Space.
