Re: Cobra Kai (YouTube) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 4/24/19
Right now Cobra Kai is the #1 trending show on Netflix. I'm glad to see it's being discovered by many more people now. But it's still on YouTube premium as well. I think I read the deal is not exclusive, so YouTube can still keep the first two seasons for the time being.
Still sucks that season 3 was pushed back to 2021, but I get from a business standpoint, they need time for seasons 1 and 2 to get watched and develop a following and then they can create a marketing campaign for season 3.

This show is so well written and so good. I’m breezing through first season again and the nostalgia, using old clips from original movie, is just great. It honors the franchise and brings it forward to today. Just amazingly well done. Going to be a long wait for S3...

Is there a season 1 recap before season 2?
I used a Youtube trial when 1 launched, but didnt watch season 2, so its been a while.

man just marathon this on Netflix. So goooood
Really enjoyed it. The characters are so well written. And I like how everyone is in the gray area. Has its goods and bads
But I have to say I think my least favorite character is Daniel. He overreacts to everything Johnny does. Not sure if that's the way Ralph Macchio is playing him or the script
Btw did anybody notice his acting at the beginning of Season 1 was a bit off. Like he forgot how to act

Re: Cobra Kai (YouTube) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 4/24/19
i really think Zabka should have been nominated for Emmy. he's just terrific and goes through so much emotion in so many episodes. Macchio is exactly the same as his character was in the 80's movies. nothing different, nothing special. But Zabka is acting his ass off and should have been credited with something, even though this was on YouTube at one point and probably didn't get the audience it deserved. he is just terrific and a big reason why this show is so good and special...

Sounds like this.is getting a ton of buzz, much more so than when it was on YouTube. Hopefully that helps keep it around for a few more seasons.

I can see why this had to get its shot on something like YouTube. But it more than proved itself after Season 1. Realistically it should have always have been somewhere like Netflix. Hopefully this gets a shot in the arm the way Netflix made Breaking Bad so much more popular.

there was a bidding war for the series and youtube won the rights. Netflix and all the others streaming sites did show interest but Youtube won the rights.

i think even the writers of this show deserved an Emmy nod. it was simply so well written and acted beautifully, S1. just an amazing show that brings the nostalgia and then to today with so much gusto and belief that you really think this is how it all ended up. that last scene in the dojo with Johnny at the end of S1 was fantastic. can't wait to get to S2...

Yeah, it's funny when there are hit shows from other sources, like Schitt's Creek on Pop or this on YouTube that don't get their due until they hit Netflix.
But at least it eventually happens.
YouTube threw all their money at the platform before realizing there is just too much competition from themselves for it to work.

Love the show. Binged watched both seasons in 3 days and everything was amazing. I'm a huge fan of the original trilogy and even tolerate the dumb 4th film, but this show is as good or better than the first film. I agree with people saying that Zabka should have been nominated for an Emmy. He's brought incredible depth to what was a one-dimensional character in the original film. He has natural charisma and incredible chemistry with his costars, specially Macchio.
I had watched the first couple of episodes on Youtube when it came out but wasn't going to pay for another streaming service and then waited when Youtube announced that they were going to start streaming the show with ads, which I don't think it ever materialized. I'm glad it found a home at Netflix and from the looks of it, is going to for an additional 2 seasons.

By the way, haven't had a Coors Banquet (Original) since the 90's. Went to the grocery store and bought a 6-pack thanks to Cobra Kai.

Like many others I discovered this on Netflix. Wonderful nostalgia is how I'll describe watching it. And yes, Zabka is truly great in this part.
I will say though, that it's at it's strongest when dealing with the adults. Anytime the kids are on screen, especially with the romances, I loose a little interest.

Also the first season was eventually offered free with ads, I don't believe that the second season ever was.

Finished S2. I agree with some of the above comments, William Zabka is fantastic, he really carries this show. However, I thought the last 3 episodes were just ok (aside from the big fight/brawl). Way too much teen melodrama.

Half way through S1. Now that Zabka has aged, all I can see when he's on screen is Kenny Johnson (Lem from Shield; Luca from SWAT).
