SEASON 2 of the critically-acclaimed YouTube Original series COBRA KAI, premieres on YouTube Premium April 24, 2019. Season 2 brings fans back into the action with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) after the shocking Season 1 cliffhanger featuring the return of John Kreese (Martin Kove). When a new rivalry between opposing dojos is born in the aftermath of Cobra Kai's controversial win at the All Valley Championships, Daniel realizes his next countermove is to open his own karate training school called Miyagi-Do, in honor of his mentor Mr. Miyagi. What was once a personal feud between Daniel and Johnny escalates beyond their differences to engulf their students, who as teenagers, are already challenged to figure out who they are and who they want to be. Which path will they follow - Cobra Kai or Miyagi-Do?
10 episode Season 2. All episodes will be released at midnight EST on 4/24.

Please use spoiler tags for any major plot discussion.

There are free trials of YouTube Premium that are offered, but the show is 100% worth paying for.

I cannot wait. It will actually be available Tuesday night at 9pm PT for me. Most of the ET people will be asleep.

I just finished re-watching the season 1 finale again and I also re-watched the 1st movie on 4K UHD last week.

One of my co-workers is the brother of Hayden Schlossberg, one of the EPs and writers of this series, and he's been heavily plugging this show on his Facebook feed.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Kreese.

I watched the new 4K of the original this weekend and am rewatching Season 1 as well...it holds up well on second viewing. I'm hoping they don't suffer a "sophomore slump" in Season 2.

Re: Cobra Kai (YouTube) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 4/24/19

Some reviews are here. They are positive so far: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/cobra_kai/s02

Though Sepinwall just released his review and it was mixed. It seems he saw all 10 episodes instead of just the first two like some of others did: https://www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-r...0X282lAT3SM_ok

I can't wait regardless.

Season 2 is now up.

I’ll probably binge 3-4 episodes tonight.

The first episode literally picks up where the season 1 finale left off.

and John Kreese is still a douchebag.

That was great. Wait until he discovers

Tinder.

Just finished Episode 8. Still LOVE it.

I bet the guest actors in Episode 6 were desperately waiting for that phone call.

Finished it up. That finale was pretty crazy.

I also wonder if they locked in a certain person for an appearance next season based on that last shot. Or maybe a recast?

I liked episode 4 because it actually:

Spoiler:
Humanized Kreese and you kind of sympathized with him since it was revealed he was homeless.

Yeah, it was nuts.
I thought it would get crazy from the the sneak peak of the spiked knuckles and "No mercy line," but
Spoiler:
Miguel possibly being paralyzed, and Robby going on the run, Sam all sliced up, Daniel possibly losing his family...I really didn't expect any of that.

I also wonder if they locked in a certain person for an appearance next season based on that last shot. Or maybe a recast?
Spoiler:
Considering how it was somewhat out-of-place considering what happened to Miguel and Robby, two things pop into my mind:
1) Elizabeth Shue will be in S3. From what little was said of Ali in S1 and S2, the only purpose of that shot was to get audiences more excited that another Karate Kid alumni will be returning. If it's recast then that would disappoint a lot of people, and ruin the magic they got with all the originals returning.
or
2) they recast her, but she plays a crucial part in the story, like bringing Johnny back from the brink. But I really, really hope they don't recast.

My thoughts on all the episodes...
Spoiler:

-The writers did a great job of showing how there are no good guys or bad guys, just people.
-The older Cobra Kai student was a little too ridiculous at times and this season probably would have been just as good if he wasn't in it. But I did laugh a few times, like when he comes to the teenager party and his date is surprised. And him taking charge at the school as security was pretty funny too.
-Damn, Daniel is still a dick. Once again, he jumps to conclusions about Robby.
-They really set up a lot of subplots and enough material to justify many more seasons.
-I didn't like how the old Cobra Kai were totally unanimous in their criticism of Kreese. They all got spooked when Johnny brought him up, and the dialogue and delivery seemed a little too forced. A little more natural scene would have been preferred. But their get together overall was nice.
-Miguel's mom should have been way more distraught over her son possible being paralyzed, and way more angry at Johnny.
-The brawl was crazy and exciting.

CONCLUSION:
This seasons was equally as good as the first.
I doubt Miguel will be paralyzed and I want him to be okay, but at the same time I hope they continue with the somewhat strong degree of realism they have going on so far: no good/bad guys, and real-life consequences.

It would be funny if they

recast her with Claudia Wells. Not sure how she is looking these days. Another person I'd suggest is Jennifer Runyon, unless they can get some big name. I don’t know why she wouldn’t do it though. I love her, but her career isn’t some great thing currently.

Re: Cobra Kai (YouTube) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 4/24/19

Episode 6 was really good. They brought back Johnny's crew with the exception of:

Spoiler:
Dutch (Chad McQueen) saying he's doing time in prison

It was so weird seeing how much older the guys looked compared to 1984.

and they made a callback to Karate Kid 3. I was wondering about this, but it looks like Karate Kid 1 through 3 took place over the span of 1 year even though the movies were released over 5 years. Daniel said when he joined Cobra Kai and met Terry Silver it was 1985.

One observation. The woman who plays Daniel's wife is actually old enough to be his daughter. Macchio is pushing 58 and she's 38.

Re: Cobra Kai (YouTube) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 4/24/19

Just finished the season. Holy shit that finale was pure mayhem. I can’t believe I watched all 10 in less than 24 hours.

Gosh, why couldn’t there have been 10 more episodes. I wanted more.

Big moment when:

Spoiler:

Miguel fell off the stairways after Robby kicked him off...I said Oh shit!!!

There has to be a third season. They have so much more to cover and plus this season covered the summer and only the beginning of the school year.

plus

Spoiler:

Kreese has now taken over Cobra Kai and Johnny’s future is left in limbo.

That ending:

Spoiler:

They need to bring Elisabeth Shue back for the third season. since they’re hinting it.

I’m 100% positive this will be renewed. I think YouTube is going to give this at least 5 seasons.

That would be fantastic and hilarious if they were to lock in that person. I think fans would be onboard.

Only up to episode 2 but Ralph looks so thin he looks sick and his combover / toupee combination is so distracting it takes me out of the show every time he's on camera

I wish he would've been at least nominated for an Emmy. He carries the damn show and I love watching his character arc from the film to this.
