Still don't like Strahan, still don't watch that one.

Looking forward to the New New Match game.

There is a channel that was run by Wink Martindale's people that has a full library of rare and not seen old game shows.
Right now I'm watching one that was an unaired pilot from 2000 staring Harry Anderson hosting an update of Whats My Line.
Listed as Pilot #2.
This is a rough cut.

The channel recently acquired a library of lost Gong Show eps that are being restored.

The thing I hate about the Strahan version is that there's
no tiebreaker round if it's tied at the end...

Wasn't the tiebreaker the quickest to finish?

Yeah, if it's still tied after the tiebreaker round...

The new season started this week with Martin Short now hosting. Who I'm normally a huge fan of. But this is just not his gig at all. He was so stiff and surprisingly not funny at all. The first episode overall felt very disjointed. They need to bring back Alec Baldwin STAT.

Last episode he filmed was in 2019 or 20 I think.
I’m surprised they brought it back.

It's cheap to make, it fills time on the schedule, and its familiarity attracts an audience versus trying something new.

Baldwin was sooo good at this show.

Watched it last night. Yeah, it's a dud. Martin seems way out of his element, the questions were too long and poorly written, and the famous Bawdiness is missing. We'll give it a couple more episodes to see if it improves. Really disappointing so far.

Martin Short is very famous for comedy, not known for controversy, and is already a Disney employee. He did not have to audition. They had a list of ranked choices, and the first person to accept the job got it.

I was involved in an under-the-radar production and it was a blast. I'll host.

I'll give it a few more episodes too because I love Short, but expectations will be low given the premiere. The user reviews on IMDB are brutal.

Since one of the IMDb comments is that Selena Gomez is not famous enough to be on the panel, it invalidates all IMDb comments on the show.

Re: Question about "Match Game" and $100,000 Pyramid"

Match Game definitely was lackluster.

It's funny - I know who Selena Gomez is. I didn't know 3 of the other 'celebs' on the panel (knew Nealon and Anderson). But I know next to nothing about current pop culture.

scratch that - I knew Wong too though it took me time to remember from when I watched SVU a little bit 20+ years ago. So 4/6.

Yes, that was stupid. However, everyone is still correct. The show stinks. Also, Gomez was there for one reason (obviously). Her and Short are co-workers/friends. And I guarantee she filmed at least one other episode at the same time that will air later in the season. And closer to the "Only Murders" September 9th premiere. Don't be surprised if you see Steve Martin pop up on "Match Game" too. If only just to walk on and say hi. But Meryl? Not a chance.

I caught the re-run of the first episode and I couldn't get half-way through it.

I feel like Drew Carey would be a better host. Short is too over the top and playing a character. And the 'celebrities' don't quite fit either, they need someone good to anchor them. There's no Charles Nelson Reilly or Brett Somers. Who are the static celebs? Or do they all change episode to episode? And the writers of these mad libs are horrible.

If I had to choose an anchor celeb, it'd probably be someone like Aisha Tyler.

If it's like the previous show with Baldwin they rotate out every show which is two episodes.

Closest they got to a Charles Nelson Reilly was the guy from Kimmy Schmidt.
He was on a few times in the beginning and then that was it.
Now he does Wayfare commercials.

Episode #2 was much much better. Short was more relaxed and actually very funny. The panel was also funnier and had great chemistry. The show will probably never reach Alec Baldwin level, but I found it entertaining and will stick with it for now.

Say what you will about Martin Short but he has never shot and killed anyone or delivered a profanity filled angry rant at his grade school aged daughter.

Forget those shows...bring back Celebrity Bowling. Now that would be a ratings winner.

Maybe off topic but Pete Holmes now seems like he is a professional TV game show contestant since he appears on almost all of the game shows on TV.

Good! He's hilarious and one of the top 3 best celebrities I've ever seen on "Pyramid". Twice he blasted through the Winner's Circle in about 30 seconds. Rachel Dratch is also an exceptional player.

He is pretty good at those games though I wish he would come back with a show like Crashing.
