7/10 from IGN: https://www.ign.com/articles/residen...review-netflix
Sitting at a 55% Fresh Rating: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/resident_evil/s01
Not many reviews yet but the negative ones are of the middling variety (2.5 out of 5, C-) instead of all out bashing, which isn't bad for Resident Evil

Does this get better as it goes along? I watched the first episode and wasn't impressed. It felt like a SyFy channel show. The characters were dumb and annoying. The sets looked cheap. The CGI was really bad. And the action scenes were in that low budget style of quick edits, closeups and shaky cam.

I've watched the first two episodes so far. I think the look and overall production value is fine. It has a visual aesthetic that fits in with the RE movies.
I like Lance Reddick (I just started a Fringe rewatch), so I was happy to see him in this.
Yeah, this is my big problem so far. Within the first few minutes, Jade is revealed to be a big freakin' dumbass. Great. And nothing she's done since has yet changed my mind.
So far, the flashback stuff is more interesting to me than the scenes with adult Jade, but I guess at some point soon the flashbacks will end.

I've watched a few more episodes and holy shit, Jade is too stupid to live. She's so stupid she's now a threat to the survival of the human race. They need to just put her down.

It’s alright. It’s a reboot with a young adult take on Resident Evil.
The property must be cheap. They’re kinda throwing all their ideas at it. One of them will have to get it right.
My fondest RE memory is being 12 and absolutely scared when playing the first game. I also had to kinda sneak it past my mom when I bought it at Kmart. She is religious and was not happy about the name.

I'm halfway through, and I find it entertaining enough. I can certainly understand why it's getting bad reviews though ... those 2 kids in the flashback sequences are fucking insufferable.

I finished this up a couple weeks back and actually came to enjoy it for what it is. I would be up for another season, but I am not sure the series made enough of a splash on Netflix to get the green light for another round of episodes. I feel for the giant crocodile, and wish he/she was still alive. The croc scene was a lot of fun to watch though.
Doh, what I just mentioned could be a spoiler, but even reading my comment once you get to the episode with the beastie I think you will still enjoy it regardless of what I just said.

2021 theatrical reboot was a bomb
2022 TV series almost nobody watched it or talked about it
I guess it’s really time to kill this IP.

I only watched the first episode. Didn’t care for it.
Never played the games, so no idea what stories they followed.

Hopefully, Capcom doesn't let anyone touch the Devil May Cry ip.
Can you imagine how Netflix would completely fuck up that series?

I'm not a big Resident Evil fan. But I do remember the first two games very fondly. And the movies had some brilliant parts sprinkled in.
Here is a recent interview with the original actors from the first game's live cut scenes. This is the first time they were interviewed.
The YouTube channel owner is trying to put together a new short.
I think it's fun to see the real-life and working-class people who get into something like this, instead of the celebrities we see all the time.

Glad I didn’t bother watching this in that case. It’s really too bad that Welcome to Raccoon City didn’t do better. I think part of the problem was with the film itself and probably not waiting long enough to reboot it, but it had the closest vibes to the games of any of the films so far.
