John Walsh is back with a new fugitive-hunting show. I watched the first episode and found it fairly good. Stylistically, it's far superior to the trashy, noisy AMW, and it's not as pretentiously drawn-out as his short-lived CNN show The Hunt. Surprisingly, his son, who co-stars, is reasonably credible and serious, not a blatant beneficiary of nepotism. Also a plus is that the show downplays dramatizations.
What I didn't like is that it's missing the urgency of a show like AMW, and of course, in terms of production quality, scariness, and resonance, it doesn't approach a program like the much-loved Unsolved Mysteries, but very few true-crime shows do. It could be improved by quickening the pace and having more than two cases per episode. Also missing are billboard-style details about the fugitives, which was one of the few things AMW did right. How tall is he, what does he weigh, what are his habits, etc.
In summary, not a must-see show, but I will continue watching, especially since it's the only show of its kind currently on TV.
