Sally4Ever (HBO) -- C: Julia Davis -- premieres 11/11/18

SALLY4EVER: The story of a love affair that quickly spirals out of control, this seven-episode series explores love and sex in today's confused, obsessive and gender-fluid world. The show follows Sally (Catherine Shepherd), who is about to marry David (Alex Macqueen), her nebbish boyfriend of ten years, when she encounters the charismatic Emma (Julia Davis). The two fall into a romantic relationship, but what starts out as an exciting and sexy fling takes an unexpected turn when Emma reveals herself to be a nightmare. Produced for HBO and Sky Atlantic by Hush Ho and Various Artists Ltd.; created by Julia Davis; executive produced by Julia Davis, Sam Bain, Jesse Armstrong and Phil Clarke. Debuts Nov. 11.

Watching now.

Julian Barratt! I squealed a little. If Noel Fielding shows up I will squeal a lot.

Wow, Julia Davis goes all in for this one.

Note: If you ever see Julia Davis coming, run the opposite direction and do not look back.

It was driving me crazy where I knew "Sally" from, and then I remembered: the fancy Chef in The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret...the one who described some broth she sampled as "the Hitler of soups."

Also the girl in the wheelchair: "How many of those have you had Sue?"

I wouldn't be able to run away. Julia gives me 'the hawt.'

Sally was in a bunch of other stuff. Peep Show, for one.

"How many of those have you had, Sue?" - Felicity Montagu is also well known from "I'm Alan Partridge." I thought it was funny how they mentioned her large breasts, which was also pointed out in Nighty Night.

Oh wow, this has the wit of White Gold but with women. Looks great. Is it a weekly thing or are all of the episodes available to binge?

Okay, this upped the ante in the uncomfortable department.

I swear, Julia Davis was 'corpsing' in the back seat when David was crying.

I really wish this was available to binge.

I watched Paddington 2 last night and recognized "Sally" in a very brief role. I guess she was in the first one too.

OMG this show is hysterical. Really bummed that this is only 7 episodes and the last one is next week. Does this actually air on broadcast TV in England???

Can someone recommend another Julia Davis or Catherine Shepherd show? Wife and I binge watched this on Sunday and would love to see more of either of them.

As for Julia Davis, I really enjoyed "Nighty Night" which had two series (for a total of 12 episodes) which is also nice. But her series "Camping" is her masterpiece IMO. Both of these shows are definite recommends. I would watch Nighty Night first if only because it was made over a decade earlier.

There is another show - "Hunderby" - which I have not yet seen but her fans seem to enjoy.

I don't know that Catherine Sheperd has been in that much, at least as a main character. Mostly what I remember her from was a small role in "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret" which was a David Cross dark comedy vehicle (also included Will Arnett). It was a bit of a love it or hate it with audiences. I absolutely loved it. There is a thread about the show on the board if you search for it.

Re: Sally4Ever (HBO) -- C: Julia Davis -- premieres 11/11/18

For Julia Davis, I thought Nighty Night S1 was her best and S2 was not as good, but still had its moments. Camping was also good. She was also good in the sketch comedy, Big Train. Loads of good stuff, there, with a well known cast.

Among a number of bit parts, Catherine Shepherd was in a few episodes of Peep Show. If you haven't seen it, you're in for a treat. It's one of my favourites. She was also in a series called Gates, which I thought was pretty good. Unfortunately it was cancelled after one season, and ended on a huge cliffhanger, so be aware of that.

I cant seem to find the BBC series "camping" on Hulu/Netflix or Amazon. Is it available to stream? All I can find is the reportedly horrible american version..

Yes, Peep Show is great. I had forgotten she was in that.

Last episode got even darker. Love this show, would be happy with it being one and done or if the story kept going. Really funny special guest star as well.

Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for this show, but Emma was one of the most annoying characters I’ve ever seen, and I didn’t find the Lena Headey scene funny, just annoying. It probably doesn’t help that I haven’t seen Nighty Night and a lot of those other “Not Your Father’s BBC”-type shows.

Pretty sure that is the point.
