The problem with saying that the character focus episodes are a problem is that they have been there prey much from the beginning. Seems like it would be more honest for those folks to state they simply don't like the newer characters which is why those episodes no longer work for them as a fan of the show.
Now personally, I certainly don't like a few of the characters as much as I've liked those that come before. But I still enjoy the focus on character development far more than just more routine shooting and stabbing of zombie hoards by those that are being put in fake jeopardy because you know they are part of the group that will not being going anywhere without the big hype each gets as they are sent on their way.

It may be theater of the absurd at times, but it is essentially undergoing a reboot and I'm willing to watch to see where they go with it.

Apparently S09E09 was put up on the AMC website early yesterday (or people located it on the server and leaked it) because there were talks about it being leaked early yesterday on other communities I talk on.

AMC Premiere released it early for their subscribers. Of course some jackass was probably going to download it and pirate it. Doesn't surprise me at all.

Oh. I guess I will try to hurry home from work Sunday so my abusive mistress can return then. She is a cruel, emotionally manipulative bitch, but I can’t seem to leave her.

Spoilerish news regarding a certain cast member that probably will be widely known anyway:

Season 10 will probably be the last season anyway. I fully expect that the back half of this current season will hemmorhage viewers.

Finally dumped this show. Had 7 episodes rotting on my DVR (only watched the season 9 premiere back in November and never looked back). Just deleted the episodes yesterday.
Farewell TWD. It's not you, it's me (I'm lying).

I doubt 10 will be the last. As long as they can make money cycling in cheaper B to C list actors as the higher paid vets leave, they'll keep it going for as many years as possible.

I'm hoping that by not being committed to a handful plot armored characters they will be freed up to tell a more compelling story.

But I hope I’m wrong about it only getting one more season. It does seem like it’s heading in the right direction again.

Unless you think that they are talking out of their asses, didn't the network and the people involved making this all but promised there will be 20+ seasons for the Walking Dead, or however many years the cast is still (actually) alive to act in the show?

The only main S1/S2 characters left will be Daryl and Carol, leaving no real threats at all because they can't kill them off without nuking the show further. Serratos and Masterson just had a kids and I can't image them sticking around the entire time they grow up. Who's left to care about, Eugene?
I don't see anyway FTWD doesn't get rolled into this one now.

I’m a broken record: kill the entire cast off on (ir)regular intervals. This always should have been a perpetual ensemble piece. Tell the story of the world or the people in the world ... not the never ending story of a select few in one geographic location. The show wasn’t strong because of the plot-armored central core, that was its worst flaw.
Oh hell, just give me World War Z the series, THAT’S what I really want.

That was one of the biggest issues with the show other than the rehashing of the same old plot formula: build up place, take out big bad guy, place falls apart, group gets separated, group comes together at new place, repeat.
The whole having a large cast of people who people pretty much knew were safe due to plot armor and the lack of worthwhile character replacements.
When so many people die off, at some point you need new characters in the spotlight... and unfortunately they've failed to bring in anyone new with the caliber of the original cast and failed to make the audience care about any of their fates.
So when the few remaining original members leave, the audience is left with no one to root for.
Back in the day Glenn and Daryl were my favorites. Then Glenn formed a family, then was fake killed and then killed for real and somewhere along the way Daryl became a shell of his former self and seems to rarely play much part in the show.
Then I finally started liking the Jesus character only for them to kill him too.
Currently, honestly I'm probably in the minority but Negan is probably the only character I care about at this point in the show.
Speaking of a World War Z series, that'd be awesome. The whole "fast" zombie thing really amps up the danger, unlike in TWD where they easily avoid them.
Though I'm also down for that new Resident Evil series in the works for sure. =)

One of the main reasons I decided to give up was because Rick PROMISED he was going to kill Neagan ever since they first met. And at the end of season 8, he lets him live after the neck injury. Thanks for not following through with that.
I don’t read the comics, so maybe they were just following that. But I just hated that so much.
And I disliked all the episodes that focused on the secondary characters. Nobody cares about them, but they have whole episodes dedicated to them.

A new unconfirmed report claims that King Ezekiel actor Khary Payton will be leaving AMC's zombie series in either Season Nine or Season Ten.

Before long it’s going to be the Eugene, Tara, and Gabriel show.
