The CW Network will expand its summer programming slate with the acquisition of THE OUTPOST, a 10-hour fantasy-adventure series from Electric Entertainment and Arrowstorm Entertainment, executive producers Dean Devlin ("Stargate," "The Librarians"), Jonathan Glassner ("Stargate SG-1") and Jason Faller and Kynan Griffin, who created the series. The Outpost follows Talon (Jessica Green, "Ash vs Evil Dead"), the lone survivor of a race called "Blackbloods." Years after her entire village is destroyed by a gang of brutal mercenaries, Talon travels to a lawless fortress on the edge of the civilized world, as she tracks the killers of her family. On her journey to this outpost, Talon discovers she possesses a mysterious supernatural power that she must learn to control in order to save herself, and defend the world against a fanatical religious dictator.

This really seems like a "The CW" version of "Into the Badlands" with the black-blood aspect from The 100, lol.

Is The Outpost a CW shows? I checked it's Wikipedia page and it says 'acquired by The CW'?

But what's the difference between The Outpost and The Flash? It's airing first on The CW, it's not like it's an acquisition from the UK? It's a CW show?

It was an acquisition. SyFy (NBC International) airs it in non-US territories. WB or CBS did not produce the show.

The Outpost is produced by Electric Entertainment. The company responsible for the movie Geostorm and the recently canceled television series The Librarians.

It was an independent television series produced more for international syndication than the American television market. The CW regularly picks up these kinds of shows for one-off runs in the summer to fill its schedule. They likely paid very little for the American rights.

While new syndicated material has more or less been killed off in the United States, there is still a huge market for it in Europe and Asia.

As someone that actually watched the pilot, this wasn't unwatchable or anything. If you liked older fantasy shows like Legend of the Seeker, or even Hercules/Xena, this was passable and had a mildly shocking cliffhanger.

I learned that the young actress playing Talon apparently rose to fame first as an...instagram model.

Yep, tolerable to start. Some goofy plotting w the wife and all. Terrible position for a fort - masses of presumably bad guys over the walls and inside zombies come out at night ...

I tried watching this last night and could barely make it to the 30 minute mark. I just couldn't force myself to finish it.

Not for me and I have way too many other things to watch than some fluff fantasy summer series. And this does look really cheap. I wonder how much involvement Dean Devlin had in making this show.

The good kind of cheesy. I’m annoyed by all the crap Talon has hanging from her waist, it should get in the way when she fights.

It's certainly a fun cheesefest and the actors look like they are enjoying themselves. I wouldn't mind this coming back.

It hasn't been canceled yet, so there is still hope. I enjoyed it and am keeping my fingers crossed. It has to have been done on a shoestring budget, so that has to be in its favor when they are looking to fill in space with summer series.

Renewed for a 2nd season for next summer: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...enewed-1150641

This show wasn't for me, but glad some of you like it and now you can enjoy it next summer when network TV is slow.

Excellent, The Outpost was the first watchable CW summer show for me in years. I do worry about CW executives messing with the formula. There is no way the show would have turned out the same under their guidance.

No one bumped this in time but season two's first episode aired tonight.

I haven't seen it yet. Major changes? I noticed they're calling her a "sorceress" now. Having everything happen in that tiny town may make shooting cheap but it's really limiting story-wise.

It's still set in the same town going by the season premiere. The big change in dynamics is the loss of the male lead from last season. He gets killed off in this first episode, unless they pull some unbelievable fantasy resurrection.

The Prime Order has awesome psychic powers? No wonder they've conquered everybody. Since nobody has ever mentioned it before, I can't tell if it's supposed to be a secret or a retcon.

Probably a retcon to juice this second season. Surprised they killed that one character off - took me by surprise.
