Take Two (ABC) -- S: Cibrian, Bilson -- From the creator of Castle -- 6/21/18
ABC'S CRIME DRAMA 'TAKE TWO,' STARRING RACHEL BILSON AND EDDIE CIBRIAN, PREMIERES THURSDAY, JUNE 21
From Executive Producers of 'Castle' Terri Edda Miller and Andrew W. Marlowe
ABC's "Take Two," the network's newest procedural crime series starring Rachel Bilson ("Hart of Dixie," "Nashville") and Eddie Cibrian ("CSI: Miami," "Rosewood"), is set to premiere THURSDAY, JUNE 21 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand.
From Terri Edda Miller and Andrew W. Marlowe, the executive producers of ABC's highly popular series "Castle," comes this upbeat detective series that follows Sam Swift (Rachel Bilson), the former star of a hit cop series whose epic breakdown is broadcast to the public and sends her to rehab. Desperate to restart her career, she talks her way into shadowing lone-wolf private investigator Eddie Valetik (Eddie Cibrian) as research for a potential comeback role. Though Eddie resents the babysitting gig, high-spirited Sam uses the skills she learned as an actor playing a cop and proves herself to be surprisingly valuable.
The cast also includes Xavier de Guzman, Aliyah O'Brien and Alice Lee.
"Take Two" is created and executive produced by Terri Edda Miller and Andrew W. Marlowe, along with Studiocanal TV's Rola Bauer and Tandem Productions' Tim Halkin. The pilot was directed by John Terlesky. "Take Two" is produced by Tandem Productions and MilMar Pictures in co-production with ABC Studios. "Take Two" was co-developed and co-financed by ABC, VOX and France 2.

He solves crimes she creates drama for me it's a perfect match haha because only men can solve crimes and do this kind of jobs properly eww just saying women pls don't get jealous and women can only create scenes, by the way, Eddie Cibrian has a great personality and Rachel Bilson is love <3

Show felt like watching a 5th generation clone of these sort of shows. It doesn't bring anything new as far as story angle or spin to the forced buddy up vibe. The only saving grace on the show is Rachel Bilson is just insanely cute. Might be ok fit for ABC.

It seemed like a fairly solid rendition of the usual light comedy, procedural mystery formula. They are going after an older middle-aged female audience, notice how they let Cibrian go gray and a little scruffy.
It's a decent bet to hang around if it catches on overseas.

I liked it. It was cute. Very similar to Castle and also has some similarities to Private Eyes on ION.
I think the strength of this was the casting. Bilson is very charming and she does have chemistry with Cibrian. I kind of like that we're getting more fun light PI/Mystery shows like this. This was fun and easily digestible viewing. At least it seems with the set up that Sam has embraced wanting to be a PI and helping people and is putting acting behind her......But, it wouldn't surprise me if down the line her agent calls her about a potential big acting opportunity that will lead to some conflict.
Noticed that this supposedly takes place in Los Angeles, but is actually filmed in Canada. There were a few familiar Canadian faces from other shows.

We watched this last night. It was perfect light breezy fun after a long 10 hour day at work for both of us. We will keep watching, for sure. We REALLY need to watch Castle, I cannot believe we have never seen it.

Yeah, well, I am gray and scruffy, and wife turns 60 next month, so I guess you're right...."

I'm up to date with the 3 episodes that have aired so far and I do like this.
Rachel Bilson is really cute and I think she works very well with Cibrian.
Nothing to really analyze. The plots have been fun so far. Although I like Private Eyes on ION a little more than this.

And thanks again for the heads up about Castle restarting on TNT. We watched the Castle pilot tonight, followed by Take Two, and when a commercial came up for the Rookie, wife said, “well, we have 8 seasons of Castle to get through before that starts this fall....”.

Did ABC air a new episode this Thurs Aug 16 or a 20/20 special on Aretha Franklin?

FYI, the next 2 episodes (10 and 11) will air on Friday August 31st in the Los Angeles area at 2 and 3am.
Yes, that's correct. Reason being that our local Los Angeles ABC station is airing Chargers preseason football on Thursday night.
If anyone is curious, ratings are low. About 2.8M viewers average.

But, it's a summer series and co-financed by 2 foreign partners, so who knows if this is good enough to come back for another summer run.

My daughter turned us on to Castle in the second season and it became one of our favorite shows. I picked up the seasons on DVD and they can be had pretty cheaply if that's the way anyone wants to view it.
This one isn't quite the same level as Castle but finding it an entertaining hour due to Bilson and some fun stories. Nothing terribly unique but not a bad way to spend an hour.
