I kinda wish they'd bring along Rayner. I'd hate to lose him due to Discovery ending. One off character Hy'Rell would be fun to see every once in a while on the show. :lol::up: People seem to LOVE her. |

This is very promising news. For one it shows they care enough about the project to go through the hassle and cost of securing good talent. And two hopefully it shows it won't be the Tilly show. I might be one of the few that actually like Tilly. I wouldn't call myself a fan but I don't mind it when she's on screen. But she's not a lead. She plays best when against Burnham. So hopefully she'll have someone she can play off of for this show. Also hopefully the tone won't be completely aiming at the young teen crowd. Still not thrilled that it's set in the future. I'd rather see a much younger, less technologically dependent Starfleet. Plus, even though I've enjoyed the last two seasons of STD they still haven't made the future a very compelling place to tell more stories.
I guess it moved the needle for me from apprehensive to slightly apprehensive. |

The idea has been around since the 90s when Paramount realized the TOS crew weren't going to be around forever. The Academy movies they were considering back then would be recasts of the TOS crew, closer to what we saw in the 2009 film, but without the emergency promotions and such.
But to do as a Disco spinoff just feels...like a major missed opportunity. The only cool thing I could see is if they take advantage of that rebuilt Enterprise D bridge set that they saved and whatever TOS Enterprise bridge set they probably still have hanging around, and use those as holodeck settings for lessons, maybe give us a different perspective on classic episodes. |

She wrote two Voyager novels: Pathways and Mosaic. A lot of folks consider them second level canon (despite them being books) because of all the great background info she gives, especially for Janeway.
