Re: Westworld (S2E04) -- "The Riddle of the Sphinx" -- 5/13/18

The Delos stuff was intriguing. Nice to see Elsie again, although its weird that she was supposed to just have been in a cave all this time.

I don't really get that Confederado (?) character that had been around with Dolores, he seems like a waste and glad someone finally got rid of him.

William's daughter! These plot points were much more interesting then the Dolores/Maeve stuff.

Next week...

Spoiler:
Shogun World looking cool.

No Delores = a much more interesting episode.

So we've learned that one of the real reasons behind the park was a search for immortality. Obviously, there'll be more.

I for one am digging this season. Nice to see Elsie back but it looks like her hair grew way more than i would have expected from the story line. LOL

I am really digging Williams fathers storyline but I dont get why they burn the whole room he is in for a reset and Williams daughter appears to be a chip off the old block kinda liking that character too and will be interesting to see where they take that story line. Didn't he say she was dead earlier this season?

She kinda fluffed up a bit too.

Maybe more or less dead to him?

I don't recall William ever saying his daughter was dead, just that she blamed him for his wife's death.

James Delos isn't William's father, he's Logan's (young William's, er, friend) father. I thought old William did say that Delos's grand-daughter is dead but it was Delos' daughter.

This is certainly a show where it is a good idea to avoid spoilers.

But for speculation:

This episode almost felt like it had David Lynch behind it at times. A bit hard to follow, but worth the effort IMO. I could be wrong, but I think they are introducing William's daughter so she can take up his mantle/quest in future seasons. Hopkins is gone, and I know Harris is probably the second highest paid actor, so I figure he's probably gone after this season.

This episode was better than the rest of this season so far. A lot of what made it better was that Delores wasn't around.

I will admit, her absence helped. Let's hope ERW's band gets more popular and she decides to spend more time on music (not knocking her talent in that area, she's quite good).

i mean, let's be real, the other episodes may not have been as excellent, but we couldn't have the pay off with this episode without the build up from those others. I have faith in the season.

This is what I think. The process was finally perfected but William didn't build a new version of old man Delos. He just let build 149 rot away in the chamber.

What I'm trying to get straight.

1.Logan is approached about investing in the park. Doesn't happen.
2. Logan takes William on a vacation to the park. Who owns the park then?
3. After William's vacation he takes his father-in-law to the park to get him to invest. The old man is probably already sick and the notion of immortality is what sells him on buying/investing in the park.

Just wondering what company was running the park when William had his initial vacation adventure with Logan. This happened before Delos became involved.

Not as good as last year, but this is still a terrific show that makes you think. I am just enjoying the ride of each ep trying to figure it out as I go along with researching stuff. Def one of my favorite shows going right now.

I thought that William and the brother in law were talking about increasing the investment in the park during the season 1 visit.

My bad, you are correct I should have typed father in law.... I know William says his both his wife and the FIL's wife are dead and I thought he said his own daughter (Williams) was as well... Looks like I need to rewatch at least part of this episode. I guess a lot can happen in 149 iterations of a host.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. After William and Logan visit, William comes back with father-in-law and appears he is trying to convince him to invest in park.

Must've been the protein bars he left. She did look pretty good for being chained up in a cave for weeks/months.

Doesn't some of HBO's best stuff tend to "Slow Burn" then payoff big time at some point? I'm not worried about WW S2
