I saw the spoiler but still a fantastic finale. What really bugged me was my DVR got the last 10 minutes of the game show so it cut off the last 10 minutes of Timeless. I then had to sit through the entire 2 hours with commercials On Demand to see the ending with the cliffhanger.

Of course it never occurred to me until this morning, instead of watching the whole 2 hours again just to see the last 10 minutes, I should have popped a movie in the BR player and let the episode run, then switched over at the end to catch the final cliffhanger.

Mine did the same thing. I have the X1 with comcast. You can not fastforward On Demand with some stations. But as a hack if you use the page up key it will advance 10 minutes. You can still rewind. So you can advance in 10 minute increments and rewind to the spot you need.

I was thinking the same thing. Here’s hoping!

Cut the cost how? This doesn't look like an expensive show. Other than the time machine in/out effect (which is probably the same effect repeated ad nauseam) there is very little in the way of special effects, explosions, and other things that cost a lot of money. Mostly just people talking on a set, which is cheap. Killing off Rufus could have been seen as a cost saving measure, but since the cliffhanger is them trying to save Rufus they won't be doing that.

Every episode pretty much takes place in a different location that they have to make look like another time and dress everyone in period costumes. Those things aren't usually considered cheap.

I think the one main issue holding things up is licensing costs. Sony Pictures co-produces the show and they make the most money off it through streaming and overseas licensing. NBC really only makes money off the initial airings (not great ratings)
Unless a show gets great initial ratings, which this show doesn't, the studios and networks have to argue how to split the costs. That becomes complicated when the show doesn't make money on the initial airings.
No network wants to pay for a show that doesn't make money for them.
I don't think for Timeless you can cut anymore costs without sacrificing the integrity and quality of the show. Hell, they're already producing less episodes.

Relax, there has to be another season. We already know Lucy travels back to attend the Royal Wedding to stop Rittenhouse sleeper agent Venus Williams from assassinating Prince Harry.

If this is all we get I thought it was an "acceptable" cliffhanger. In my head I'll just assume that they follow their future selves and save Rufus. And now that they took out the primary folks running Rittenhouse, they easily take out what little is left now that Jiya has her powers and is not insane.

Well, in the future Lucy went back in time to give Garcia Flynn her diary, to be sure that some things happen. So some major things need to happen between "now" and that time. Garcia Flynn has mentioned that she looked a little bit older when she gave him the diary. So I'm sure the writers have more Rittenhouse story ready.
But yeah, other than that is a good series finale.

I enjoyed the season that we didn't think we were going to get, and yeah, if it does have to end, I'd be OK ending it here. I'm actually a little wary of a whole season or at least several episodes of camera stunts to portray actors playing multiple characters.

Hopefully they can work out getting the TV movie made. Could have a much smaller budget than many of the shows since they wouldn't have to focus on going to different time periods.

No surprise. The TV ratings weren't good (even worse than season 1) and that it took NBC over a month to make a decision wasn't a good sign.
Science fiction, especially cult shows like this rarely survive on network TV. The show had buzz and a cult following, but not enough people watching.
Maybe if NBC didn't save Brooklyn 99 from FOX, they could have had the money to keep this.

This sucks big time. I honestly thought no news was good news as they were trying hard to make the economics work out.
I appreciate they gave a second season, but this is not how you gain viewers and increase your subscriber base. Execs have been floundering for years with streaming; and haven’t learned a thing.
